Whats the Stock 88/89 Teg motor

Now I know that some of you classify this as the Brown top ZC....it is a DOHC Non-Vtec that has about 125hp I think...now I am under the impression that it is a D16A1....but I havent found any info to back this up.....there is also the D16Z5 but I am wondering if they are the same motor...I am to lazy to go look at the block of one....I might end up going next weekend as I may swap this motor into my car if I can sell my D16A6.....any help is greatly appreciated......also would my header/intake fit this motor since it is a D series motor.

Thanks

a 88-89 teg motor wont fit into you car. the mounts are different. Its really not worth trying to make it fit since you have to move the mount on your car around, since the engine is only 118 HP. By the way, the engine code is D16A1. I checked with my friend, he has a 89 teg. The d16a1 would bolt into a 87 civic si , but not the 4th gens

My friend with the 89 teg blew his engine (the d16a1) and they replaced it with a brown top ZC. The other ZC is the one that bolts in.

i found this info on this site

http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/4gtech.html#ZC

heres one of the quotes: The Integra 1.6L does not bolt in. Compared to the ZC, there is no reason to try to fit a 1G Integra 1.6L. At only 118hp, it's not worth the trouble.

Ok.....now im confused. Maybe the brown top will work.
On this site

http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/F.../4372/tech.htm

they say there is a black top, brown top, and olive top. The 88-89 teg took the brown i though but maybe its the olive??? anybody else know anythign about this?

if the brown top is a 88-89 teg motor then it will not fit. I know that much.

thanks for clearing that up....I always wondered.....the main reason is that a guy I know has a 4th gen 4 dr and he has a ZC in it....I saw the stamp on the block.....and I can beat him with my 4G hatch with the stock SI motor.....now at first I thought that he may have had the teg motor in there...but obviously not....since it wont fit,

i know definetly that a d16a1 wont fit, so anything out of a 88-89 integra you have to move the mounting point on your car. I was planing on getting one until i found out you had to chage the mount locations. You can get a 30,000 mile one for like $400 around here.

ok, just figured I'd stick in my $.02. My grandparents have an 89 teg four door and the engine looks exactly like the ZC, however I am almost 100% positive that it is a 1.8 liter and makes like 135 hp. If I go up there tommorrow I'll look at the engine code or I'll call my grandad or something. I always wondered why it looked like a ZC though.

It's not a ZC. Trust me. America didn't get any ZC's. AT ALL.

Oh yeah, red4thgencivic even though you are almost 100% positive that it's a 1.8 liter with 135hp, that doesn't make it so. All 88-89 teg's are 1.6 liter engines making 118 hp.
