What ECU does a 95 GSR have?
I was just wondering if the GSR is supposed to have the P72 ECU? Thanks.

why are the ECUs for the 94-95 GS-Rs so cheap compared to other years? is it 'cuz those were the first GS-R engines with less restrictions? y?

The 94-95 are cheaper because they are OBDI and i believe that OBDI is easier to modify.

if u can get your hands on a 92-95 OBDI civic EX ecu (P28) you can readily chip those.. and they are MUCH cheaper then a OBDI P72

P28 huh? Well that has a redline of 7200 and the GSR is 8000 and plus the P28 is set for SOHC VTEC.

when you chip and ECU, it basically reprograms it, so yes a P28 civic ECU which normally has a redline of only 7200 can now have a redline of whatever you please, and have a vtec crossover point at whatever you please.....
and the above information was incorrect about the P72 being cheaper cause it was OBDI street prices: OBDI P72 = $300-350 OBDII P72 = $175-250 OBDI P28 = $100-150 so with that info.. get a P28 save your stock ecu just in case you ever need to smog your ride.... and have fun im running a P28 in my GSR.... no redline higher vtec crossover..... never get a check light (knocks on wood):smoker:

Re: What ECU does a 95 GSR have?
Red , you might want to consider this before you jump on the p28 bandwagon:
The IAB or secondary intake runner is a set of butterflies in the intake manifold of B18C and H22A engines. The P72 ECU controls the IAB, but other ECUs do not. If IAB control is lost by swapping ECUs then the engine will always run on the shorter intake runners, typically losing 8 hp from 3,000 to 5,500 rpm. |
