Very Confused
I am hoping that maybe you guys or girls for that matter can help me make up my mind.
I am gonna have my 93 civic dx sedan paid off in about 6 months and want to do a choice of these #1 Engine swap #2 Engine swap and turbo #3 Sell my car and buy a Civic Si and go turbo #4 Sell my car and buy a ???????????????? The only benefits I can think of for keeping my car is I won't have car payments. But the drawback is it will be almost 10 years old and allready has about 120,000 miles on it. Even though I would be swapping the engine out still the car and everything in it has seen over a hundred thousand miles allready. Also keep in mind that I need this car to last me at least 5 years unless I hit the lottery hehehehe. I was thinking that if I sell my car and between the money I get for selling it (won't be more than 4k im sure) and the down payment of 1k I get back when I pay my car off is 5k. Between my next tax return which should be about 1500$ and money saved that should be about 2500$. Which would give me roughly 7500$ to either put down on another car or put into my car. Any input that y'all could give me will be greatly appreciated since I cannot for the life of me make up my damn mind. Thanks

Its really a choice on what you want in a car.

look and see what you want to do. i'd say engine swap. or for 8k spent the right way you can get a pretty tricked out ride. get a vx with a b18c swap, body kit, rims, shocks & springs.

I know your delema. In my opinion I would get a newer honda with less miles. You can get really low payments with that much down. Then with the low payments you can put money away and save for what you want to do to your new ride. Time is the main factor here not money. You can make a lot of money, but it may take a lot of time.... unless your a dealer.

put it down on a 250z or an rx-8. i was in the same position you were in and i said this to myself.
1. no matter what i do it will still always be a civic 2. my car has a shitlaod of miles on it so replacing the engine only cures one thing, i still have the rest of a car that has 100,000+ miles on it. after i though about it for less then one minute i was on carpoint buying a prelude. and if i had it to do all over again i would do it the same only i might have gotten an audi s4 instead or at least a 1.8t quattro |

if you like the car, keep it. if the body is in pretty good shape, you shouldn't have to worry about the miles on the body, though there may be things that will need replacing anyway. it's almost paid off and you can look into getting a swap.
you can always trade it in for something else and incur a new payment. it's your choice. think about your choices and go for what you really want. |

I dunno every time I think that I have decided to keep my car I always end up telling myself that its almost 10 years old and that if I keep it for another 5 years its gonna be a 15 year old civic. Do I really want to put a helluva lot of money in a car that old. Especially since when I do go to get another car I won't be able to trade it in and I won't be able to sell it for anywhere near what I put into it.
As you can see my head is twirling with all these questions im posing to myself!

Thanks for everyones posts and comments. I think I will start working on my problems with the car and doing minor enhancements until I get it payed off. Then when I do pay it off I can save the money for engine swap and exterior work since I won't have car payments any more....................and of course I badly want to go turbo for whatever engine that I choose
