I'm so behind
In the past three weeks, I managed to glue two parts together in passing on the 2k2 Vette I'd hoped to have finished about three weeks ago. It literally needs an hours worth of work. I just don't have it; this is killing me. I have on average 2-3 tests, 5-6 homework assignments, a project, and two lab reports...every week. I don't even have time to do anything more than check my email! Do you guys miss me? Do you even remember me?? I see so many new people here! Man, this engineering stuff better pay off!!

Kidding of course. I don`t remember you, but I remember what it was like being in school; it is tough. But it`s only a few years. What discipline of engineering are you going into? It can be very lucrative, which means many more models. ![]() BTW, nice 1:1 cars in your sig!! |

Re: I'm so behind
Who the F are you?!
Was wondering where you'd been hiding at this weekend when I was screwing around with an AMT Nova and an LS2. Especially wondering what was happening with that Enzo you had planned. Too bad you don't have a lot of time to work on toys, but engineering will pay off. It's a harder and harder to hack field (I surely couldn't do it after a few attempts) and the pay is reflecting it; in <15 years engineers will be earning bucks like lawyers and doctors but without all the ridiculous loans to pay off the specialized training (undergrad is cheap!). Good luck, and stick with that shit!

I recall seeing you around here...
Missed ya, to be honest! I am feeling your pain, since I'm beginning my first year of college right now. I have made a few Engineering friends, and they seem to be just as busy as all of us Architecture Studio-slaves. Like Will said, stick with it! We all wish you had more time to post your builds (they are spectacular), but know your priorities! We'll try to understand.

I remember you
....I feel your pain. I dont stay quite as swamped. my tests fall about 4 every 4 or 5 weeks. and homework isn't quite as packed...atleast not this semester. now next semester when i have quantum and EM and all of that stuff.....yay fun stuff. lol. just keep your nose to the grind stone and imagine all of the awesome modelling and 1:1 stuff you will be able to afford when you are done!!

Re: I'm so behind
Poor Kat. Being a freshman I don't know how much of a load there really is, but my lecture classes are killing me.
I hope you'll be able to get some time back for the models. We could always use your modern muscle. |

Re: I'm so behind
I've decided to put off homework for the night and finish that darn Corvette. For whoever it was that asked, I'm a "1st year Senior" Mechanical Engr major. I'm currently taking Fluid Dynamics, Statics and Vibrations, Materials & Manufacturing, Engr design/graphics, and some other misc engr classes. I just wish I had time to breath. And breath paint.

Heh, gotta love being a mechanical engineer. I'm plugging away through my junior year as a mechanical engineer. At least you got to glue two pieces together... I haven't done more than place bids on models on ebay.
Its not so much that I don't have time, just no space. Although I wouldn't have a whole lot of time between all engineering having to take an extra class per semester at my school (We were a 5 year program, but years ago it was condensed to 4 years covering the same material, hence the extra classes), doing division 1 Track and Field, and building a real race car with the school... But in the long run, as I'm sure you are already seeing, its fun and its gonna be worth it!

Re: I'm so behind
Sometimes students need a place to take their steam out. I did that by making car models.
![]() Fluid Dynamics...that's quite complex, but it's also physically taxing because you have to carry a phonebook-like textbook! I have BS in Aero Space Engineering, and worked for engineering simulation software / consultation firm for a few years. There, I did some structural analysis, and everything I learned paid off. So, I guess it depends on the type of job you get. |

Re: I'm so behind
I remember you too, though I've mostly been a lurker. And then I reached senior year of college (civil engineering) and a one year grad program after that, and I just stopped. No time at all, and it was hell, too.
Now I'm done and working, and I don't have much energy, but it's better than the worst that school can give you. Whether it's payed off or not? Eh... compared to if I had studied something else... I'm hesitant to say yes. But life IS better after college for us. |

Re: I'm so behind
I don't have any tests...and I haven't even glued two parts together in almost three months. Modeling slumps are a beyotch...but at least I'm getting some outdoor activities done.
