=-need Your Opinions-=

Hey guys, ok today I was driving down the road and saw a 240SX on the side of the road for sale so I stopped to look at it. It's red and the paint is in perfect condition. there is no rust on the body at all. It's the SE model so it's got the sunroof and the rear spoiler. 5 speed. 133,231 miles. Interior is perfect from what i could tell from looking in it. Everything works, including power windows/locks/sunroof and also the A/C. The guy is asking $3500 OBO. I think that is a little too much for the amount of miles it has on it right now, but he is also taking the best offer so that's where I need your opinion. What do you think that this car is worth? If I can I'll drive back there tomorrow and try to take some pictures of it to post. So if you were going to buy it then what would you offer him for it? I have yet to test drive this car and I will be sure to do so before making him an offer but I was just curious as to what you thought. Thanks!

I can only speak for our market here. We don't have cars with so much miles on it but a '92 hatch (with CA18DET, that's the way we get it) in good condition and only 90k miles will be around 4'000 US$:bandit:

Aight I test drove the car today and it runs perfectly. I told the guy that I would get back to him about it. When I got home I called my insurance company and was getting a quote for the car. Currently I pay 380 every 6 months for my honda and the guy told me that the 92 240 would cost me 780 every 6 months. So it's an extra 400 dollars I gotta shell out every 6 months, or an extra 66 dollars a month depending on how i look at it. Worth it? I think so. What do you think?

Hey J Spec...how the hell are you paying 780? Is that like full coverage and all that? B/C I had the bare minimum on my 240SX and I paid around 400 per 6 months...and now on the Z I pay around 700 some bux but it's a like a few steps up in coverage but not full coverage yet.

Anyways...offer him like 2500-2800. Good luck man...hatchbacks are hot and you gotta get one in great condition so that it can last you through all the mods, torment, and punishment you will put on it as you rise to greatness!!!

Well I don't know how you got things with insurance (on what does it depend, here they go for displacement. So if you have 1.998l engine you'll pay less than someone with a 2.01l engine 'cause the payment level switches at 2.0l [luckily the SR20DET is a tiny bit below 2.0l]) but here I'll pay between 1000 US$ and 2400 US$ per year for full coverage depends on how long you already drive around without a scratch. I myself can get the car insured as a company car with the bonus that insurance will be at the lowest point possible (about 35% of the regzular basis) 'cause a business car counts anyway as driven without a scratch That way I'll save money with the insurance which I need to buy 98 octane gas (about 1 US$ per liter)

Anyway good luck J whatever way you go

Hey, yes the 780 per 6 months is full coverage. Plus it might be a little high since I'm only a 17 y/o driver. I haven't gotten any tickets or any violations before so I have a clean driving record. I was thinking that maybe he would take 2500 but I'm not sure. I've got 4500 to spend but I don't really want to pay much more than 3k for the car just because of the miles on it.

I'll keep you all updated

That is totally worth it. I'm ashamed to say it but I pay almost $1000 US per 6 months for my Civic. It is full coverage, and the rates of insurance were drastically raised here in MI because they consider it a high crime area. Not to mention the top 10 most attractive autmobiles to car thieves. I kinda wish i bought a 240SX instead of a Civic.

well i think its totally worth it. my friend got a 89 S13 with 220000 miles on it. it was running fine until he drove it like a mad man. then it finally went kaput. but i mean, its a nice smooth car. but i still pick my S14 over any S13 unless its got a sil80 conversion with 180 tail lights. then i'll just throw my car at that person and some cash and run with that S13!!!
