91' SI vs 95' civic coupe

ok both of these cars belong to my friend

1995 civic coupe: his original car, intake, header, exhaust, bad clutch..

1991 civic si hatch: intake header exhaust aem fuel rail and a really good clutch.. the previous owner i raced and we were even when my sentra was stock.. he had different tires and a skunk2 chip.. so i guess he ran a 15.9..

we went and i was in the coupe and he was in the hatch at an abandon road. he revvs it to 2.5 and dumps it and i rev it to 4k and dump it.i beat him for the first 60 ft then he pulled (he was shifting way eariler than i was, his redline is 6.5 and mine is 7.5 but he also has some kind of aftermarket tranny) but anyways he had a lil on me then at the top of 3rd i pulled a half car back and probably put a fender on him then he pulled a fender on me.. then we shut it down..

as we were coming back we saw a cop in the distance and we took the back roads went to a friends house and hid the cars in the back of his house and thats where we are at now.. sorry if some of this doesnt make sence or if u have any questions cuz ur confused.. im just a lil jittery right now.

Re: 91' SI vs 95' civic coupe

15.9 stock time for the rex si is 15.7, surely you could do better than a 15.9, jp

running from the cops...ah the good old days good race, but you can get him next time

I dont think there's any need to be a dick about it. If you're going to correct him, i dont want to see this turn ugly.

To the thread starter, good post.

Re: 91' SI vs 95' civic coupe

Sounds like the cars are sort of evenly matched. The 91 si may be lighter though. AEM fuel rail won't make much difference. Stock fuel rail can handle 250hp. Redline on d16a6 is 7200rpms so you can push it a little passed the "redline."

si weights about 22-2300 and the coupe weighs about 2500. redline on the si is 6500, and about 1000 more on the coupe.

i raced one of the v6 stangs recently, and they take off pretty slow, almost everyone i know with a civic hatch did a b16 or b18 swap, you should swap in an h22 for ur coupe, then you'll ub33r p0wN@g3 on the hatch

Re: 91' SI vs 95' civic coupe

he's got an aftermarket tranny?
hmm...
and just b/c the redline is higher doesn't mean he's shifting sooner than you...
if he's redlining each gear, he's redlining each gear, doesn't matter if he revs to 6200 and you rev to 7500...

why hide from the cop?
you took it through 3rd, which should only be about 75 or so...
and you shut it down there, which would be about 15 seconds or so...
oh well.
good race?

To the thread starter, good post.

i found this post to be ironic, as he's speaking to the same person in both instances...
(the guy being a "dick" IS the thread starter...)
ha.

h22 is overrated get a B18C1 motor, lighter, and easily similar power and more mods for it

its not a crx si, its a 91 civic si hatch. they run a 16.7 or from what i read. we took it up to 4th we were doin 100, sorry i screwed up in the first post bc i was nervous i guess. all i remeber is that we kept goin back and fourth. i would inch by him and then he would inch by me. i nailed every shift fine, and i dont even drive a manual.ive only raced a stick like 3 times.

about the tranny, he has an after market one. im not sure what car it came off of. but he shifts a lot earlier than what he is suppose to. i kno someone who has a b16 engine with a d16 tranny and his first gear ends at 45. no lie. im not quiet sure about the hatch tho.
