How much boost can i safely run on a pretty much stock d16z6 motor?

I am going to swap a d16z6 in my 4th gen. soon too and turbo!

Ive been reading that if u go with the greddy kits with nothing else u can safely run around 8 psi, but u may need some fuel upgrades, ive found most of my info from this site

turboD16 is a great place, I'm Cent. I'm currently gathering parts but I know majority of the money is going to the fuel system and electronic/guages/ect. Thats what determines how much you can boost...and how built your engine is.

Well i was gonna use either accels or MSD to upgrade my ignition. Hadnt thought much on fuel upgrades yet, inline pump fuel rail and maybe bigger injectors? what else would i need?

You are going to need to get a fuel computer(s-afc or equivalent) or a standalone unit like the hondata sytem if you are using a P28 ecu or the zdyne system if you are using an obd0 ecu. Your stock ecu is not going to be able to control the larger injectors..thus the need for the standalone or piggyback electronics.

I would say run about 8 psi to be safe and if you tuning is dead on maybe 10 psi.

doesn't the greddy come w/a FMU? if so thats not the best method, it works but w/negative side affects. the FMU is a boost dependant fuel pressure regulator, meaninging that is senses how much boost you have and then blocks off the fuel return line-keeping more fuel in the rail/line-forcing more fuel through the injectors. There is different pressure disk ratios that you can change but the one you get is 12:1 meaning for every psi of boost you have, theres gonna be 12 more psi in the fuel system.
ex;
5 (boost) X 12 (FMU)= 60 + 45 (normal psi @WOT)= 105 psi of fuel pressue when you have 40-45 stock.

stock injectore that flow a maximum of 240cc are gonna end up running them selves ragged and then quiting on ya.

...the greddy kits dont come w/ fmu's anymore..they come w/the blue/black boxes that control fuel/timing...can only be used w/ OBD1/2 wiring though...

Ok i understand that. who makes a good fuel management system ? And where can i go to do a lil research on what i want?
