Dyno Results! Dissapointing...or is it?

Here are my dyno results for the day. Todays best run in blue and last years in red. Added since last year...JWT cams and Hotshot header.

Notice the drop in low end torque! It pulls all the way to redline but that low end drop really gets me. The final result, 146hp is OK I guess, but as George would say, "that's just trivia." I really need a solution for my torque drop.

Here's the chart comparing one of the first runs of the day (RED) with my best run (BLUE). I got the final result by playing with the timing. I don't know what the actual setting is but it's less than 19 and greater than 15. I was just using trial and error. At less than 15 I lost power along the whole band and after 19 the power line started to get really jagged (onset of detonation). I didn't have a timing light so I used the monkey method, this monkey doesn't recommend that method. :monkeypis

I thought Jwt cam and hot shot head "should" improve low end torque ( according to ser net ) here are a few thing I think of...

what kind of exaust do you use? Piping too big for na?
Got tune up yet?
Got new wheels? They might be heavier than your old one?
Finally....dyno mechine accurate?

Well maybe not 'should' but keeping it close to the same would be OK too.

It's custom 2.25" piping with a Dynomax Magnaflo. It shouldn't be too big unless the new resonator is cloging things up. But usually backpressure will help low to mid torque.

With only 37K km I don't think this is an issue. I did pull the plugs and take a look. They all looked fine. Except for the #3 cylinder that had a little oil in it. I'll be keeping an eye on it to see if this was just a fluke or not. They tunnel to the plug hole was dry but the threads had oil on them.

No I made sure to put me stock wheels on. They even have the same rubber used for my last dyno run.

Same one I've used since the beginning. I'd hope it's accurate. BTW how can you tell if it is accurate? It's not like there is an SAE calibration car driving around.

cool charts Jason.....dotn know about your low end torque issue..but 146hp at the wheels is pretty nice improvement.
i have access to a dyno around here so after my swap gets done, i'll post my chart too heheh

Oh yeah even they make it , it is going to run you another 500 bills...
Hey if you are going to sell your header in the future, let me know...you know, I bet you will get it turbo charge or things like that.

They don't make one for the 98 SE-R either.

Well soon after JWT makes the 99 ECU I'll be starting to collect parts for a turbo setup somewhat like this!

Oh yeah they fit a JWT ecu on there but apparently it took a lot of work to jury-rig it up.

I'm pretty sure they make one for the P10 (91-96) G20's.

Jason, how smooth is your engine after the cams? At idle position I mean.

Barely noticable. I sounds a little like it could do for a tune up. Just a very slight lope.
