Finished a Rally car *PICS*

A rally car that was given as a door prize. I try to build all the door prizes I may win just because it something different and push my skills(hey the kit was free)to see what else I can do.
I highly recommend the Hasegawa kits. Really nice kits, I've done two now.
This is the Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 1000 Lakes Rally Car sponsored by Mitsubishi and Ralli-Art.
Car is painted Tamiya White and Tamiya blue. I taped the windows and sprayed them flat black. The rest is basically from the kit.

More at my link.

Re: Finished a Rally car *PICS*

Ralliart isn't a division of Mitsubishi, it's a company in England which prepares the Mitsubishi rally cars for them, kind of like what Prodrive does for Subaru.

Never said I didn't like the model, did I now?

The models great, it's always nice to see renditions of the 'older' rally cars appear.

freakray, I was just playin' with ya, since you didn't say a thing about the model itself.
Thanks for correcting me though, I appreciate it.

Re: Finished a Rally car *PICS*

Thats a sweet car, the drivers of those cars (Pentti Arikkala & Ari Vatanen) were some of the very talented drivers of the World rallying stage. Was the first rally car to be launched with 4 wheel steer. 1989 Lombard RAC rally.

Sweet model bro brings back memories!!!!!!

Actually they are a Japanese company and 100% of Ralliart is owned by Mitsubishi motors.

The model looks very good, anything to look out for when I build mine?

I agree, it looks very good.

I'm also interested about potential problems, since I have the Ivory Coast Rally version of that same car. At least it looks like the "white" decals are just as yellow as in my kit...

It's very nice!
How decals go? I'm asking because it's older kit with older decals. I have one to build too.

Hey guys, the kit builds up nicely. The only problems I encountered were with the suspension. I worked it and re-worked it but I couldn't get it to sit level. I finally have three wheels on the ground versus only two. So pay special attention to the suspension.
The decals were easy to use. They are a bit thicker than I am used to. They lay down and look rough, but after setting overnight they lay down nicely. So don't get discouraged right away with how they look.
I left off the mudflaps as well as the p.e. seatbelts as I didn't want to spend that time on them. They still need to find a way to position and secure those flaps onto the car. I cut them out and could probably put them on the car, but I didn't want to fiddle with them anymore.
A few of the decals are double layered. I'm guessing because of the opaqueness(sp).
I'm going to try and weather the body afterawhile as well.
Good Luck with yours, can't wait to see them.
Thanks for the compliments as well. I appreciate them.
Chris

Re: Finished a Rally car *PICS*

Nice, a 91 evo version, as opposed to my swedish non-evo!
Model looking good, although the inevitably yellowed decals don't do it much it good. Maybe if you weather it (finland's got lots of mud, so go overboard ) it will look even better.
It's a shame there's not a lot around anymore, i would love to redo my galant, as it's the first model i built...

You're right, I confused them with the outfit that did Hyundai's WRC cars until the big fall out
