Anyone tried the Bosch Platinum+4 spark plugs?

I tried them out and they gave my ride a little kick. But they run hotter than most other plugs so I'm wondering if this could ruin my cylinders or pistons in the long run.

never tried em...was gonna, but i ended up with the single bosch platinums.. it was those, or the platinum2, but i figured... "its a CX...aint gonna make a shit of a difference..." so i got the reg. ones..
how much did the set of 4 cost you? i think they were like 18-20/set @ advance auto here.. reg. platinums were like 5-6 bucks i think.. worth the money?

as for hurting your pistons....eh, i doubt it would cause any long term damage, but if you are that uncomfortable w/ it, try the platinum2s?

I have a CX too. I'm very satisfied with them but then again, I went from regular sparks to these so I don't know about the other ones making a big difference. regardless, I'm very very pleased with their performance. They cost about 6 duckets a piece so that ran me 24 bones. If you try them, let me know if they make a big difference from the others you've tried cuz these +4 were pretty pricey for sparx and if I can get the same performance for cheaper, then I'll go that route. But as for my experience, I'm extremely happy. Got a good little boost.

I have them in my Civic and finally found a plug which doesn't burn out after 3 months. I was going through plugs llike crazy since I autocross all the time, and the Bosch Platnium 4 have been going strong for over a year.

My Civic was hesitating and what not so I changed out the plugs to the Platinum 4's and now it runs smoove as a babies ass. I had some NGK platinums but in my opinion they are crap. I'm a Bosche fan from now on out, regardless of the price.

As far as how tight they go on, just place them like you would any other plug. I did and I haven't had any problems. Be sure not to tighten them too much though. I did that once and ended up cracking the porcelain part without even knowing it. Talk about the car performing bad!!! It shook badly whenever I accelerated.

Hondas were designed to use NGK plugs. BOSCH platiniums might last longer but you will not gain any power with that.

You are supposed to use a torque wrench and torque them down to 7ft/lbs. That's about finger tight and 1/4 turn.

Where'd you hear that one? That's like saying Hondas were designed only to use Honda oil.

Honda designed the combustion chamber to work best with the NGK design in term of durability and fiuel efficency... Hell htey have been with them since they started to make cars...

Anything else will just give you a longer lasting plug but no real advantage..

Those BOSCH have 4 negative prongs. do you really think that you will get 4 sparks?. Electricity takes the shortest path. You'll get only 1 spark that might go to one or another part of the negative electrode..

This means only 1 spark. You have to make sure the plug is gapped properly for your application too.

do the test, take a spark plus out, ground it on your engine block and watch the spark of the BOSCH platinium while you crank (you can do that with your lawnmower if you don't want to do it with your car). You'll see only 1 spark at a time. The prong it takes will change from time to time but you'll never get 4 sparks since you only have 1 positive electrode.

You'll get better longevity tough. but no better performance.

Well even Honda can screw up - why did they put Michelin XGT V4s on the 1999-2000 Civic Si when they know full well how much they suck as a tire.

haha you got a good point here! Those tires were suited to give more comfort I guess... but they suck. Honda always put crappy tires on it's cars...

But the main point of my intervention was just so state that the 4 electrodes will not give power but will keep the optimal power over a longer period of time, which the regular plugs will not do.

However, if you get a bigger spark using the same ignition system, there is no doubt that you will get an increase.

Yes, do not tighten them too much.

Breaking the spark plug is the least of your worries! Stripping the threads in the block is BAD!!!

Yeah I understood what you were getting at. I got the Bosch 4s because the electrodes were burning out on my car so I figured 4 electrodes would be better and let my car run longer without changing out the OEM plugs every 2-3 months.
