If possible, i would take the mirror off the car and dissemble it as much as possible. you won't be able to paint the cracks and little hard to reach areas just painting the whole thing at once..

there are only 3 screws that hold it from inside, just remove the thing.
600 paper is fine 1200 is for wetsanding after you clear coated them. After that buff those suckers with a rotarty buffer. |

Hey guys, what about side mouldings? My Prizm has side mouldings and I was thinking of shaving them off. But now I'm thinking of just painting them to match the car. For one reason, my car spends alot of time in parking lots, unfortunately('
'). I got the car in late January and it took until mid February to get it's first parking lot dent (bunch of savages in this town)(' '). So maybe I need the mouldings. Let me know what you guys think I should do.(' ')

Yank them off and paint them along with the mirrors.

You should make the last layer of clear coat very think, just below the point were it starts to drip. This way you'll get a nice and shiny result.

What about the actual door handles themselves... is it easy to remove them without spending like 4 hours yanking and manuevering to get them out -- would be nice to be able to have them off and be able to move them around as I wished when being painted.

Its not hard to take out the handles, it took me couple minutes. I think its easier to take out the whole mechanism out and than disconnect the door handle from the rest.
I didnt paint my handles, i just shaved those suckers. It looks soo nice. hehe. |

Maybe you just need to buff those suckers.
