Is this spec any good
this is the spec of the PC i'm lookin to get watcha think.......
AMD Athlon XP2100 (266mhz) 1024 pc2100 DDR ram 80gb hddisk 128mb nvidia Gforce 4 Ti 4600 grafix card 24x10x40 cdrw 16x DVD rom OS - XP home edition network card Creative Audigy platinum sound card DTT2000 5.1 channel speakers mouse keyboard etc..... inc 3yrs onsite warranty

I'll say that is the latest atlhlon xp. But why not get like a xp 1900 or so litlle speed difference but mucho dinero difference.
and that is a lot of ram. what chipset is the motherboard runnin? And also if you want only the latest stuff get a motherboard based on the via k333 that suports pc2700 ram.

Bottom line those are awesome specs.What are you paying fort it?
One thing i might change are the speakers. The Klipsch 5.1 should be better. And make sure all the components are good brands. Because I saw many computers being sold with awesome specs but with some cheap components to save money. Something like a Linksys nic or a mb with a K266 chipset instead of 761 or K266A.

Ali Magik chipset not good It will work but you loose way too muck performance. By far the best chipset for DDR 2100 is the Via Kt66A followed by the AMD 761. I very seriously recomend to do your best to get a mb with those chipsets or the K333. It is exactly what I was talking about that many companies build systems with excelent specs but cut corners to lower the price.
As for the price lets see some numbers. this is a system as i will build it and for the record I way serious about getting only the best stuff. xp 2100 - 362$ note that xp 2000 is 100 less MSI k7t 266 (via Kt266A chipset) - 117 cooler - 40 HD seagate baracuda IV 80GB 7200 RPM - 175 Toshiba DVD 16X - 70 Plextor 40X12X40 - 170 nic 3COM 905B-TX 10/100- PCI - 45 floppy - 14 audigy platinum - 200 case antec soho file server 350W - 130 1024 Pc 2100 samsung or micron - 350 titanium 4600 - 400 19 in samsung true flat monitor - 350 klipsch 5.1 - 300 Total 2700 but remember you can cut some money by gettin only512 ram and like a radeon 8500 without sacrificing any significant performance.

they said they've only just got the 333 mbs in, and are testing at the moment....so don't know when they'll launch them, might wait...
same here I'm trying to get the best, so it can last me a while without many problems....... the price I've been quoted, (converted from £) $1949usd....but this doesn't include a monitor as i'm happy with the 19" I've currently got. speakers the only ones they supply that I know of at the moment are, Creative labs DTT2200 C Labs 5300 inspire and some Videologic ones never even heard of the klipsch 5.1 speakers
