Lightbulb serious Metro mods

Okay...seeing how the Geo has been bashed relentlessly because of its three banger engine, I've made it my goal to take my 1993 Geo Metro Conv. LSi 1.0L 3 cyl. engine to the max. Most of this came, however, after I had to replace the clutch (I saw a lot of room for improvement, but I didn't have the money at the time). Anyway, I'm just asking for little help and input on how I can go about achieving my goal.
Firstly, I can get a custom made super charger (w/o intercooler) for about $70 from a friend of the family. It'll add about 40 hp, but I'm worried about my engine being able to handle it. How much do you think it would take to reinforce the engine to withstand greater power?
Secondly, I've already considered GeoMaster's intake system (before reading his post), but I'm weary on not using ANY sort of air filter. I haven't checked for a K&N one either.
Thirdly, would I have to buy different half shafts to compensate for greater torque at the wheels? And how could I go about doing that more effectively?
Fourthly, the exhaust system. Actually, I'm not worried about that, it's taken care of...I think.

Just some general info on the car. It has about 100,000 miles on it, but he owner before me (family friend) was a mechanic and took really good care of it. It costs a pretty penny, but I also maintain that high quality care. Anyway, there are new tires, exhaust (from the catalytic converter back), clutch, and then the regular stuff (filters, oils, etc.)

Used to be you could get a turbo 3 banger from Pep Boys. I'd try that as it being the simplest mod (with a warranty). I'd stay away from KandN filters if your car is fuel injected (the oil tends to drip and clog the MAS sensor.

you could swap the complete drivetrain from a Sprint/Firefly turbo in your car, then build the engine,up the boost and all that stuff.

I think most turbos I've seen use a special type of foam filter with a funnel ram opening just before the intake pipe to the turbo.
I think someone mentioned in another post that Jackson Racing made a SC kit for the Geo.

$70 supercharger? Doubtful.

$70 supercharger producing enough PSI to need an intercooler? Impossible.

A Geo Metro with enough torque to need new half-shafts? Priceless.

Turbo Metros are rare alright. I have seen one. Not sure if it was a real turbo Metro but it said turbo on the side. Since it looked different than the regular ones, im assuming it was.

You should try driving one!!!! Torque steer like you can not imagine. We had a new one on the lot that a customer took for a test drive, put the hammer down and hung a turn right into a parked car

Going the turbo3 route is viable, cheap, and there's actually a whole bunch of us with these engines in all 3 generations of these chassis, so you'd have alot of background to pull from. You can find turbo3 engines in junk yards for a couple hundred bucks! They put down 100lb.ft. STOCK. Grab a manual boost controller and hang on, torque steer like you wouldn't believe.

70hp & 100lb.ft. @ 7psi (stock boost). The factory turbo max's out around 120-130hp around 20psi. It's blowing fire at that point, so most owners move the IC up front. What's neat about this size engine is that owners of different turbo cars usually upgrade their turbos and sell off the stock turbos. Those stock turbos are usually well sized to upgrade the Turbo 1.0L engines. The turbos from WRXs (TD-04) and 2nd gen Eclipse/Talon/Lasers (T-25) work well, as do the Audi/VW (K03) turbos.
