Question Which is better for first time Accord owner?

Which would be easier to fix the 88 Accord LX with carbuerated engine or the 90 Accord DX with fuel injection? I've already went to ask a mechanic and he said carbuerated engines are a pain and even Honda dealerships won't work on them. Is this true? It seems to me carbuerated engines are more simple than fuel injected, but not better.

Also which deal's better?
88 Accord LX (needs replacing of fuel pump and fuel filter) $800 and up
90 Accord DX (needs a paint job) $1100 and down

Thanks for even reading my clueless questions!

it all depends on your purpose for the car. I personaly would get the '90, but thats my own opinion

well by far i say go with the 90 going with a carbuerated honda is just gonna turn into a money pit. if you do the prep yourself, you can get a nice paint job for cheap i talking $300-500

Well as much as I'm obcessed with the 3rd gen Accords, I'm gonna have to say you'de probably be better off with the '90 with EFI. The Keihin (sp?) carbs that Honda used...well...sucked. Although the carb'd 3rd gens were still extremely reliable, the carb will still give you more trouble. If it were an LX-i or SE-i, that would be another story. My '89 is EFI and this thing IS the definition of reliability (286k and happily counting ) But I'm sure the '90 will be just as reliable.

Craftywizard, are you from Champaign Illinois? If so that's cool...you live about 45 minutes from me

See the thing is it has 90K miles and my sister drives a carbuerated engine and she hasn't had a major problem with her engine yet. But it is a Chevy Nova with 90K on it. This sucks! You know you find a cheap car, but why is it so cheap? Because it's about to fall apart or it's so old nobody wants it anymore or because the owner drove it to near death and just wants some extra money off of it. Anyhow I'm definitely not going to buy it unless it is priced lower, because to have those things replaced it would be like $300.

Go with the 90 DX. It's a little under powered compared to the EX and LX but EFI motors are easier to diagnose when troubleshooting time comes around.
