AWD civic??!?!?! I have an idea, but i need ya info...

Ok an AWD civic. I know thats possible, becuz i've seen it before.
But I never knew how they did it.
They say that the CRV is based on the civic and it's true.
The CRV is AWD, so I was wondering can you fit CRV drivetrain onto a civic?
Imagine....All you rally/drifter fans that owns civic.....

AWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the crv should have the same dimentions and should fit...into a newer civic, like 99 or 00. but i think it would be a lot of work. and i dont know how low you could make it. the crv is quite a bit higher than the civic and the drivetrain doesnt really have much clearance.

but you would have to buy the crv, i would think, to get the entire frame and drivetrain...i would think the guy with the subaru idea has got it goin... but if you want the challeng, i have seen it done before...but i dont know how they did it. you might want to use the crv engine too...maybe crvtec. that will be one heavy ass civic, it will need more a lot more power...better brakes, completely new suspension. heavier frame.

maybe, it might work better for you if you just took the crv and put the body of the civic on it, then crvtec. give it some boost..lower it a little. i think that would probably be cheaper for you. and easier. i know a guy who put the body of a 911 on a 86 camry...sounds like crap...looks nice. if i didnt know, i wouldnt race him...

Where have you seen this AWD civic before?

And try fitting a driveshaft for the rear wheels under the car when you have a flat undercarriage.

An AWD Civic was made back in 1988-1991 I think. Just get that and install a turbo

why an AWD civic? its pointless considering the fact that all honda engine lack torque to pull the weight, not to mention how much the japanese consider a b18c5 and lower crappy ass engine. it's best you just get a real AWD car.

it won't work that's why it's never been done...have you ever seen a WRC civic?

rally cars=WRX, LANCER, FOCUS RS, 206, etc.

There are 3 main points to a AWD system
1. off roading
2. safety in bad weather conditions
3. performance

of those, do you seriously think the Soccer mom CRV system has the same setup as a dirt-road pounding WRX. Nope.

Hmmmm I thought the CRV was 4WD , not AWD. Its different....
If you do it your civic will look like a 4x4, it will sit too high.

hehehe, the only civic I have ever seen rallying was a 2wd one on a video I downloaded off morpheus. It was going around this corner an then caught a wheel or something and rolled end over end into the trees!

Interesting idea though, the crv realtime awd system pretty much sucks unfortunately for us H lovers. Trust me my friend used to drive one until his dad bought him an Impreza (darn lucky kid) and the awd is so pathetic when compared to the Subaru's system.

Way back in the day (mid 80's I think) Honda made a Civic Wagon that had awd. That besides the CRV is the only car based awd or 4wd vehicle that I know of that Honda produced.

What if I use the older civics with the AWD system.
Does anyone know how the AWD works on the civic?

for the price you would pay to convert a civic to all wheel drive with a very sub par all wheel drive system from a crv that is in no means performance oriented (next time your around one take a look at the rear drive shaft, my big toe is bigger then it) you could have your gsx and enough cash leftover to run 11's in it. and i dont belive any american civics where awd, though there was a jdm modal...something like the xsi or some shit to that nature.

Yup, very true... my dad has a CRV and I highly doubt the drivetrain could take the abuse of rally...

But asnrefugee -- it seems like every week you are on here with a differant idea about this or that or the other thing. Do you even own a Honda as of yet? Why dont you talk about how to find one first and then worry about all this crap later -- because trust me nothing will ever go as planned. So get yourself a Honda, and then sit back and figure out what you are doing. And if you havent seen it done before -- there is a reason for it!

Sorta like, you know this super hot chick who is just totally perfect... but yet shes single -- there is a reason for it!
shes probably crazy or something :finger:
