Question SE-R Spec V vs. Maxima SE

I have a 2002 Nissan SE-R Spec V and my friend has a Maxima SE anniversary edition (not sure what year it is). He was talkin alot of shit about how his car would burn mine and i think it would be a really good race. The SE-R has 180hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, and the maxima has 220hp a think. The SE-R is 500lbs lighter but im not sure if thats enough to give it the lead. I know my car would take the maxima in turns with its Spec V suspension and lighter weight but im not sure in straight acceleration.

what do you guys think???

<edit>: i know i already posted this is the street racing forum but i thought this might be a better catagory.

Cool

The Anniversary Edition has 227HP on the Maxima...but Maxima's are severly underrated...the 190HP one was really quick...did like 0-60 in about 7.0 seconds flat...so I give it to the Max

both cars have very similar aceleration numbers. since his car is still runnin on the old VQ30DE. it has a hard time getting low 15's. if its on a highway from mid range aceleration. it would be a good race cause you have a 6 speed, but he has 6 cylinders. but on top end he would eat you alive because once again. v6 vs. I4.

Tat the engine is not old...the Anniversary edition is not more than 2 years old...so I give to him...the Spec V only does the 0-60 in 7.4 seconds and puts down like 145FWHP...w/227HP I'd put the FWHP at like 180FWHP or so...the Maxima weighes about 3200 lbs true...but given that the new Spec V doesnt even match the performance numbers of the old 200SX SE-R (0-60 in 7.0 seconds) and it is heavier than the 200SX SE-R...bye bye Spec V...

the newer se-r is more of a highway battle car. rather then a drag car. once the car gets goin, it can really move. or thats atleast what i've read from other se-r owners. and granted that the max is an auto the max has no chance.

The SE-R will lose the 1/4 mile. We already know that. As for the highway, the SE-R's only advantages seem to be low friction, lower weight, and sixth gear. However, sixth gear is pretty useless. It's a cruising gear, and unless you shift into it really late, your momentum is gone.

Re: SE-R Spec V vs. Maxima SE

I still think the maxima will win in any test of acceleration. 40+ hp is going to be alot to overcome. Even with the extra weight the motor still puts out harder and the car isn't badly designed. I will bet on the maxima any day.

Cool Re: SE-R Spec V vs. Maxima SE

true test drove the maxima at a delarship when i was deciding if it was worth it even tho it is an automatic the response time for shifting by the computer is alot faster than i thought it would be and it is a really fast in comparsion to most mid size sedans and coupes. but as far as handling it takes corners horrible so i agree highway race all day maxima, turns and curves race a.k.a circuit specv is where my money is

Re: SE-R Spec V vs. Maxima SE

havent raced a max with my spec, but I ran a 15.6 my second run the first time I had ever been to a drag strip...there are people on b15sentra.net that have run a 14.9 with the car all stock on street tires so the max may not win.

I think an auto maxima won't beat a spec v...you also don't shift into 6th gear until like 120+...I can't remember the exact speed 5th gear hits fuel cut (6250rpms)...it's been awhile since I was stupid enough to go 130mph...

and for those who don't know, iirc the anniversary is a 2001 or 2000...the manuals use the same 6spd the spec has.
