97 maxima VS '02 Sentra SE-R Spec V

Hey all. My friend has a 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V (stock is 175 hp and 180 lbs of tourque) with AEM CAI, and me with my 97 maxxie with Injen CAI. His is 6 speed manual and mine is auto. Plus his Sentra is around 200 lbs lighter than my maxima. We wanted to race for fun, but I just want your opinions whos gonna win? I know that his engine has two timings. Just like honda Vtech. His 2nd timing turns on after 5k rpm. So on high end his car really pulls.

considering he has the tranny advantage, i would say he will take you...i am pretty sure 4th gen vs. Spec V is a wash with same type trannies. plus, i have heard good things about AEM CAI. don't put money on it, unless he's a shitty driver and you are really good

I mean I know him, hes one of my best friends. Hes a very great driver, plus it was me who put that AEM CAI in for him. hehe. Actually I did most of the stuff for his car. Stereo system, CAI and grounding upgrade. I mean Im gonna race him anyways. It will be for fun.
OH BY THE WAY I forgot to mention. He just changed his engine mounts. I forgot which brand they are, but he doesnt have his engine jumping anymore at hardcore clutch drops.

i beat one by a couple cars but we were both manual. we raced light to light 3 different times and i got him every time. even one time he asked if i wanted to race and as soon as i said yes he took off i had to put it in gear from N and then start going and i still caught up and flew past him. the last race was about 1/4 mile maybe a lil longer and we ran up to about 115 mph. he was going throgh gears quick and at the end of each of his gears i would pull a little further. keep in mind his car redlines 600 rpm LOWER than yours(even though it's a 4, which is the one thing that i hate about that car) if you can get the jump and redline them gears, then he's yours

Wow nice man. Listen, if I will switch from gear to gear (manually) would it help?

How does that compair (the Sentra) to a 240SX? I raced a 240SX ... umm 95 I think... he was a Manual and I'm an Auto... I had 2 other people in the car He had me till 2nd gear then I flew past him, all I have right now is a K&N.... I got up to 115 and he was about 30 feet behind me.

the 240 is 155 hp and is rwd which means more loss of power. it's got a big disadvantage. i still like them a lot though.

i don't realy know, i've only been in an automatic 4th gen once before and i wasn't driving. how close to redline can you go before the auto tranny shifts gears? the last 600 rpm made a pretty big difference. he'd shift and i could still romp on it a little more

Well if I just have it in the "D" while flooring it, it will go till red line and then switch, but IF i switch manually from 1 to 2 to D with O/D off then O/D on I can get it all the way over red line.

The 240sx is a great handling RWD coupe, but stock they come with that crappy truck motor KA24. Good low end tourque, but not much power up top.

yeah I stopped to talk to the guy afterwards... he had a cold air intake... I love the 240SX aswell... it's a cool little car, I was expecting him to beat me considering my huge wieght disadvantage... being the car was 4500LBS with out anything/one in it, with the shit in my trunk and the 3 of us... a rough figure is... the car was about 5350LBS or so... the tag with my VIN # says 4480 I think... curb weight. I'm about 270, one of my friends is 220, and the other is 150... plus some shit in my trunk that I hadn't cleaned out at the time. I was surprised to win....
