Question SE-R Spec V vs. Maxima SE

I have a 2002 Nissan SE-R Spec V and my friend has a Maxima SE anniversary edition (not sure what year it is). He was talkin alot of shit about how his car would burn mine and i think it would be a really good race. The SE-R has 180hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, and the maxima has 220hp a think. The SE-R is 500lbs lighter but im not sure if thats enough to give it the lead. I know my car would take the maxima in turns with its Spec V suspension and lighter weight but im not sure in straight acceleration.

what do you guys think???

both cars have very similar aceleration numbers. since his car is still runnin on the old VQ30DE. it has a hard time getting low 15's. if its on a highway from mid range aceleration. it would be a good race cause you have a 6 speed, but he has 6 cylinders. but on top end he would eat you alive because once again. v6 vs. I4.

His Maxima is an automatic. And as you know the Spec V is a 6-speed. Im pretty sure that would put me ahead? Anyone wanna change their answer???

Re: SE-R Spec V vs. Maxima SE

It should be a good race, but if it is of any distance longer than 1/8 of a mile, he should get you.

Re: SE-R Spec V vs. Maxima SE

should be a good race. i raced an se-r spec v a few times in my old 95 maxima and took him by a good car and a half+ each race. the 95-99 maxima was a bit lighter than the 5th genereation though. even though you're lgihter, the maxima has a better power:weight ratio, it also makes a bit more torque, redlines higher even though it's a six cylinder(that's what the kid i raced said, you redline at 6K rpm right?), and those DE-K motors have real nice top end from the variable muffler and intake manifold. the anniversary edition maxima's make 227 hp and 220 torque.

you might still take him though. you being a 6 speed is a big advantage. i think it should be interesting. i predict you'll take him off the launch and he'll pull back in the higher rpms. i'd give it to him if he were 5 speed though.
