Cool Fuel Octane Question

Well I'm in Texas and here in Austin, I have never seen a gas station that sells anything higher then 93 octane unleaded fuel. So my question is, if I get 93 octane and put octane boost additive, will that put the octane of the fuel to something higher?
I know 100+ octane can be found in California all over the place, but not here. Also, can anyone suggest some good octane boost additive brands? And perhaps also any other way to boost octane of fuel without additives found at gas stations.
Thanks for the info.

Yes putting a octane booster additive in your fuel will raise the octane a little bit, but probably not that much. As far as good brands of boosters to use I know that NOS used to make a pretty decent line of them. They had a street formula, off road formula, and a formula that said for racing use only on the bottle. I used to buy them at stores like AutoZone and Advanced Auto and I know that even our Wal-Mart used to carry the street and off road formula, but I have not seen the racing only formula around for some time. I don't think that it really makes that much difference in how your car runs though it may run a little bit smoother, but don't expect to pick up a lot of power by just rasing the octane of the fuel. I live in NC and a bunch of the gas stations in Charlotte carry 100 octane unleaded and there is this one in Concord that carries 104 unleaded. At the drag strip in Rockingham we always fill up with Sunoco 112 unleaded which is the highest octane I have ever seen for sale at the pump. I have tried them all and have not been able to tell signifigant difference from 93 octane except for in my wallet.

are there anyone here that owns a lancer ralliart, and experience the engine knocking with 87 or 89 octane fuel? (most noticeably going uphill). the owners manual states that it's okay to fuel with 87 octane gas, but if it knocks then it's not acceptable.

any thoughts?
