how to lower compression ratio?
don't you need to have a lower compression ratio to run big boost from a supercharger or turbo? say if you have a gsr motor. or a b16. how would you go about doing that? cuz i've seen some pistons that raise compression. isn't that bad? i haven't seen any that lower compression ratio. and since you would need to replace internals...........

there are Co.s & shops that can get you dish pistons, it'll drop the CR down to 8.8 or 8.5 - but you don't have to lower the CR, even w/ high boost. just use the right fuel (premium or race gas [not legal on street]) & have the motor tuned correctly to take the boost it's given.

he's right, though if you do want to lower thicker head gaskets are an option also

how much do those head gaskets lower C/R? and wouldn't they increase the chances of blowing a head gasket because of the more exposed area?

Getting some headwork done would increase the size of your combustion chamber, thus lowering the compression.

race gas is legal as long as it's unleaded. it's about $4.50 a gallon here. |
