Question Audi A4 1.8T or Subaru Impreza WRX ?

I'd like to know what people think about these two cars? I've test driven both of them, and can't decide which I like better. The WRX is a lot of fun to drive. Every time you get out of it, you have a smile on your face :frog: But I think it leaves something to be desired on the interior. They both are around the same price, so it comes down to quality and sheer fun factor. Which do you think is a better car to drive?

I'm in sales, and spend most of my time in the car. And I want to have some fun while I'm driving.

Also, can anyone explain to me which they think is better - AWD or Quattro? I drive a Subaru right now, and the AWD is awesome in the snow, and just about anything else. How do you think Audi's Quattro stands up to Subaru's AWD?

Audi Vs Subaru

Could really tell you since I like both of them. I do feel the Subaru is a better car for the money, and has more bhp. Even pricewise, I do see a difference since the Subaru is cheaper than the Audi. As for Quattro vs AWD. Couldn't tell you. I think Quattro is the same as AWD. MAybe one uses more electronic gadgets more than the other. Let me get some more Info from a couple of my friends, and I'll let you know what they think.

Remember AUdi was not allowed to compete in rally races because Quattro gave them an unfair advantage. The interior build quality is superioir on the Audi. Since you spend a lot of time in your car that is an important factor to consider. Also the 1.8T engine is very easy to modify if you are so inclined. Overall I really like the Subaru but the Audi is more refined and elegant IMO.

Thumbs up Audi Vs Subaru

You're right about the rally car part, but i'm not much of a fan for the interior. Too much red. Both cars have super engines, for modifications, and other reasons. Ikind of like the Audi too, since its Quattro has a physical link, unlike the Subaru and the Evo who have electronic links. In my opinion, the Audi is the better choice. don't forget the Audi is a suped-up VW, so you might want to think about getting the VW Passat with 4motion. I'm working on getting some more feedback on my friends VW. I know he likes his Passat, maybe you might want to check it out too.
I hope this helps

Never dare to say that again... Never i said!
VW steals the best engines from audi and puts them into crap skodas etc. Now they delay the realese date of the new A8 because the D1 isn't ready yet and they think that A8 will steal customers from the D1... who the hell would ever buy a D1 besides volkswagen boss... Why would you want tu spend 100 000 $ on "pepole's car"... WTF... Just wait until they made a seat "sister model" to lamborghini or skoda's "sister model" to bentley...

No, the AUDI A4 1.8t is a suped-up VW. the VWs offer the same engine for almost half the price. A8,A6, and all of the S cars are superior automobiles. I would never say that about the other engines. Our discussion was about A4 1.8t not the other Audis. READ THE FULL TEXT BEFORE JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS.

Would you mind reading the whole text and then coming into conclusions? Because like i have wrote , 1.8T , the superior engine made by audi was taken from them by VW , and put into their crap cars... So what if they're cheap? A good engine alone won't make them any good , they gotta improve the interior , the suspension and everything else , but then it would be the same as audi... And for your own fuc&$#g knowledge , the A4 was made before passat or anything from VW , so you make no sense , how could it be a souped up VW when there was no VW similar to it when it came out? And put one thing into your mind , i'm the moderator of the Audi forums , i'm the audi resident guy here , and I didn't come here and said "hey cool , nobody moderates the audi forums so maybe i could" , but because i own an audi , and i know about audis enough... i don't really like bragging like that , but when you say something that is not true on my audi forums i'm the guy here to correct it... ok my most important job is to keep forums free of spam/advertises/porn etc. crap , but also to answer questions about audi , and correct pepole who are giving wrong answers... And i don't want to sound like "I'm the mod , so i'm better" , i just want to clear things up , and next time PM me if you want to talk about it

VW owns the AUdi Brand Name, as well as the Porsche's. The TT has the same parts the Boxter has. does that mean the TT is a Porsche. No.

Yes, the Audis came out before VW bought the brandname, and before the the Passat and to some degree the Jetta were brought into the picture, but when AUDI and VW were making the 1.8t engine back in 1991, they made it to fit both brands not just AUDI. Granted, the Audi's Engine is more slick, and picks up speed faster, because of the CamSHafts the Audi's 1.8 has on it. The VW does not have that option because, as you said, it's a People's Car. It was designed to be more economical , and cheaper to maintain. The Audi does not have that option because it was designed to be a Sport Lux car. If you don't believe me, call up VW/Porsche, and talk to Mark Heigenstat. He is an aeronautical engineer, and engine designer for Porsche, but before he came to Porsche, he worked in the original AUdi-VW engine design team.

Now before I became a Nissan Fan, I was an AUdi fan too, and I still have a couple of friends who own Audis, as well as drive for Audi and VW. Audi makes superior cars, but since I'm a S1-SR Driver, the engine is still the most important part of the car to me. You may feel differently, but I'm not concerned about it. I wish you good thoughts with your S8. I saw the Pics that you have on this site, and it looks like you've keep the car in excellent condition. Have fun with it. I admire the car a lot, and to some degree, I am jealous.

Ermm... excuse me but i can't agree , those are two different cars , the TT is a front engine , 1.8 turbo , 4WD and coupe , Boxster is Mid engine , rwd , 2.7 or 3.2 NA and drop top... It doesn't even have the same floor panel ... the floor panel from the TT is in 22 cars from audi - VW (like golf , bora , toledo , ibiza , octavia etc the list goes on) but not on the boxster... Being more of a porsche fan , i drive my audi just because it's better suited for daily driving , i own 2 porshces that are my true passion... I'm not trying to say i don't like my audi , it costed way more and i use it more than the porsches , but they are what i really love... I'm gonna buy a 959 and the original RUF CTR , but first i want to finish school , because they won't let me finish it ... I would enjoy them so much that i won't have time to learn...

I never said they were the same cars. To me, the engine is one of the most important parts of the car. Without it, there can be no car, unless you want to push a box around.

I like the idea of putting the RUF CTR engine inside a 959. good choice in engines. A friend of mine did that recently, and he loves his sweet ride.

Ahhh, because the RUF engine is that much better. He's also a street racer, so he needs that engine for modification purposes.

oh, I forgot to add

He imported the engine from Germany, and right now he's producing 845bhp @ the rear wheels.

Damn man why waste such a rare and expensive car for a street racer , buy a supra and waste the engine with all the 30 Psi boost and 200 NOS shots.... That;s what i think , 959s don't deserve to be trashed for street racing... this car is a legend... But each to his/her own as always....

Dude, it's not my car. I can't get him to change. If he wants to do that, it's his choice. you know that.
