aftermarket parts

as a current business student in the UK, and a lover of car moddeling, i am seriously thinking of starting a small business producing resin parts for parts including custom decals, car bodies, body kits, wings, wheels, seats, steering wheels, and interior accessories and sound systems; subs, 6 x 9's, amps, nos bottles. is any one interested as i need to test the market for this, it will also go towards me reaching my desired grade on my business course..

any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: aftermarket parts

Everyone is insterested. The trick is to find what parts that people actualyl want, and would buy, for how much, and so forth. I would suggest not asking here, you get a lot of varying opinions on it, and a lot of empty promises. You can do a search to see what I mean, this has been asked before.

Oh, and CJ is not a Balla, we all know he's a Grove Street boy. Tsk.

I'm sure there is some interest, but there are already many manufacturers that create all those things you have listed. Most are of good quality and rather affordable. You'd need to offer something better/cheaper or subjects that are not covered by someone else. Plus there is scratchbuilding, kit-bashing, and model companies adding extra parts in some of their kits.

i think all u need to focus on is the custom decals, seats, steering wheels, and interior accessories and sound systems; subs, 6 x 9's, amps, nos bottles. those item will make money 'cause the currently market is lack of those accessories, if u reli came those items out, i will really buy a lot from u

Re: aftermarket parts

that would be great! you can never have enough after market wheels..

sound system components may not sell as much though, or atleast not on this forum. possibly people into lowriders.

carbodys- absolutely! id love an e46 M3, but no one makes it! anybody know any other cars they dont make that youd like to see?

Re: aftermarket parts

If you're able to set up a business with good quality stuff for a resonable price and easy ordering and good delivery, I can assure you, you'll get yourself a lucrative business. Well, as long as modeling remains to be a more or less popular hobby of course. For instance look at SAS or HLJ. HLJ is pretty cheap. SAS is expensive with some things, but therefore you get high quality stuff. The delivery and ordering is a piece of cake so these two companies got a great future. Pegasus Hobbies and Hoppin Hydros aren't to easy for consumers outside the US. Pegasus Hobbies doesn't deliver outside the US and Hoppin Hydros doesn't provide PayPal. That's why I never bought anything there. I hope my comment is usefull to you.

Re: aftermarket parts

I've always thought about starting my own aftermarket company, it seems like a good idea if you are into the hobby yourself. If you are planning on focusing on some motorsports subjects too, i'm definately interested since i'm in the UK aswell.

Bodykit, transkit or full kit will be a good seller, but please take this as note that when you post the product up and ask for order; people whose 'Want' and 'buy' is 2 different thing. You will find alot of demand when a bodykit or stuff you tend to sell, but when your price is too steep, those whose want to buy must be the diehard. I do think that casting factory in other countries will be easier to locate.
I myself wish I could have a factory that sell bodykit, transkit and full kit but too bad my country doesn't have any casting factory...haiz!
