Cold Air Intake Problem

I was on Hotshots website today and read that you can't or not supposed to use your cold air induction kit when it's wet or raining. i know thats it's not good to suck up water into the engine but i was wondering if the cold air induction peices really does suck up water. ALso i saw on digitalracer.com that they have an air bypass valve that is suppose to keep water and dirt out of the engine. Does that peice really work or is it just garbage. any info would help thanks.

I'll say it works!

Yeah the AEM BPV works really well. SCC did a test with AEM owners NSX and an fish tank!

I wouldn't worry about the rain and wet warning. They need to protect themselves a bit. There are plenty of people not using a by pass valve on their CAI's. Just dont drive through any HUGE 3' deep lakes of water and you should be fine.

the bypass valve only works if the inlet is completely under water.

as you drive in the rain the filter slowy builds moisture over time your engine may have premature wear due to this condidtion. next time you drive in the rain, check your filter to see how wet it is. just think wear it going . . . . . . . . . .. .
