lancer evo vs wrx

i think the lancer evo vII will kill the sti wrx.it's a fact.i think a lancer oz turbo charger at 10 to 14 psi will pull more hp the your wrx and it cost less .about 18800.that's 7000 less than a wrx.

yes I agree it will be better than the regular WRx, but when the Sti comes over, it'll give the EvoVII a run for it's money. Priced similar and specs similar. But seeing your screen-name, I bet you beg to differ.

Adn the fact that you drive an ordinary lancer and not the Evolution, how can you claim what you are claiming. I've already driven the WRX and I can tell you it kicks ass and pulls like a dog on your nuts. Just look at the specs for the upcoming Sti and Evolution. They are very similarly matched, and the prices are very well within the same range. But seeing as how the WRX is already here, Subaru already has the upper hand with consumer base.

Plus look at what you wrote, are you factoring suspension mods as well as intercoller mods and engine mods as well as transmission mods? I guess not since you came up with a price of 18800 for your so called turbo charged lancer oz. Do you think that your Lancer oz can handle 10-14 psi? Did you know that the WRX is running 13.5 psi and the Sti to run even more than that? Dude to get your lancer in the range of even the regular WRX, you would need to spend wads more cash and plus you don't get factory reliability. Before spouting that this and that car will be way better than so and so car, man get an idea of what goes into it and just be happy that you got a ride =)

not really

the rmr turbo lancer is more powerful then the normal wrx nad it is in rally comption as we speak.and that has the same turbo kit and to mod the engine to handle the much psi it will cost you $20,856.that is 4144less then your stock wrx. ok if you need to see them check this web page out .

http://www.roadraceengineering.com/rreimages/sema2001/
check picture 30 to 47 to see the turbo lancer's push 230 to240but the rmr is close to 300hp

SirRacer, were your friends racing Sti's or ordinary WRXs? Plus I never said that the ordinary WRX would beat an Evo, I said the Sti would give it a run for its money. Plus LancerOZ17, seeing as how you were from Jersey, I was comparing the US bound Subie and Mitsu, since you drive a US spec car. I mean do we have the RMR Lancer here in the states where we are? No. Plus as you may read what I wrote before, I noted that you won't get the factory reliability you get with a powerful stock WRX Sti. I mean yeah sure, if you wanna play with Imports outside the US then let's talk about the WRX Sti type R or maybe the 22B or the P1 or maybe something else that we can't have in the US. But as I was stating before, both US bound Subie WRX Sti and Mitsu Evo VII are well within the range of specs, price, and reliability.

I would agree with Mog 22. The lancer OZ rally is a totally different car than the EVO. It would take a ton of money and work to make your car as good as a lancer EVO.

the evo VII will of course beat the wrx easily.
but the sti vs the evo VII is a very good comparison.
both are at 280ps.
i wont know which one would be faster.
i dont have much knowledge with the evo VII and the new age impreza but i do have a lot with the version V sti and the evo VI
drove both and was amazed at what you can get for the price of an accord.
however the evo VI was faster. corners better than the impreza as well. but the interior seemed cheaper than the impreza. only downside

but back to the question the evo would beat the wrx easily.
if its evo vs sti wrx, then its a different question

I personaly like the Evos better then the WRXs, especialy the Evo IV. And if you are planning to mod it, I'd still go Evo. A friend of mine has a US Spec WRX and it IS pretty damn quick. But the general opinion is that the drivetrain is lacking in the strength department. If you are planning on adding on any major Kw a new diff is a must. Also I've heard that the turbos tend to stuff up and explode at high RPMs if you are running even a little more boost. Now stock for stock... The Evo wins over the rex on a drag and on a road race, the stock tires on the rexy leave alot to be desired and that baby hood scoop doesn't do asmuch as it should

If I was choosing between the two cars to own I'd have to get the Evo because there arn't any around were I live and I prefer their styling over the scoob.

Between the two current models the EVO would edge the Sti in performance. But you have to understand that Subaru are making the rex a more "user friendly" and mainstream car, where with Mitsu they are going for the pure rally car direction. Both have their pro's and con's. The sti is a better overall package (being $15 000 dollars cheaper then the evo) it's a lot easier to drive day to day and a LOT more comfortable to drive. The EVO does get very annoying to drive, especially over long distances and the road noise is very very bad, but it's a rally/race car so that's what you would expect. If money was the factor out of these two i would go for the STI, because with the money you save you could spend on modifactions for the rex, then it would be even better then the EVO .

But it's up to the individual, so you really can't force the issue( though i hate the boxy look of the EVO )

Does the STI have an upgraded transmission? I know for a fact that the WRX will snap 2nd gear pretty easily if you're running more than 320-330 HP in the quarter. I've seen three of them do it in the past year. They're well known in Japan for having "glass missions". The EVO on the other hand takes a beating. Whoever asked about boosting up....the 4g63 is KNOWN for it's strength...ask your average eclipse owner...14-17psi on stock bottom end, stock turbine is pretty normal.
