240sx Le/se

What is the difference between teh LE and SE versions of the 240 SX. I'm looking for a 97-98, preferably w/ a blown engine so i can drop in a SR20DET w/ minimal cash loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

LE costs more
moonroof is optional on SE (standard on LE)
LE has leather seats while it is not available on the SE

that is pretty much it, look in the classified for a cheap car

Not only is the LE more, but they are certainly hard to find (which makes it pointless to look for). Nissan only sold about 400 240SXs altogether in 1998. As for the creature comforts, I've seen many SEs and even base-line models fitted with dealer option leather, and slide/tilt moonroofs installed from dealer outlet shops (these are the places the dealers send their cars to if their customers want installed painted spoilers and dealer option ground effects, such as Ultra-Trim located in the South Bay, CA).

The LOWEST I've ever seen a '95-'98 240SX sold for was a 1995 base model for ~$5,000, even though most are around $7-9,000. Of course, Nacho169, you are asking for the model year with the sharper front clip, but my suggestion to you would be to get a '95 and overhaul the front end with that of the S15s (which has become very popular due to the ease of fit). Since you are opting for Senior Veinte, you wouldn't need to worry about reliability of the older '95 KA24DE. Good hunting.

sorry im kinda new to this....but when you say overhauling the front end of a 95 240sx. do you mean just changing the headlights or the headlights, grill, hood, etc.?

Welcome to the forum!

I was referring to the whole front clip, including the headlights, grill, hood, fenders, and front bumper. Replacing the entire front sheetmetal like this is the easiest and cleanest way to update a 240SX, albeit much more expensive than just trying to pop in new headlights (of course, this is no easy task either, with the necessary cutting and molding). The difficulty would be the equivalent of updating the late model U.S. Integra with the front fascia from Japan.

the reason im asking is cuz I found someone selling a 95' 240sx, but really dont like the front of the car & i dont have time to wait around for 97 or 98 model to pop around somewhere. its good to know that the front can be changed....thanx

The '95 crossover is a really good plan. After you are complete with the front end, there will be no evidence of the older image left behind (except for the rear taillights, which can either be swapped as well, or left alone since they don't make a huge difference). I plan to take this route myself, unless my own pocket budget calls for an S13.

I'll rather do a S15 front end conversion if I own a 95-96 240, i think it'll cost just about the same for a complete 97-98 front end.
i own a 98 ... thats just my 2 cent...

That's what we are talking about. I don't know anyone in their right mind who would waste their time updating from a '95 to '97.

I wouldn't call it a waste. I know plenty of folks that have switched from zenki S14 front end to kouki S14 front end, and they all love it. "A waste of time" is something you'd think is a waste, but don't label it to everyone.

Just like the saying: To each their own.

Yeah, well IMO. I do know one person who went from zenki to kouki, but he regretted it when the S15s debuted. Go figure.

Can you tell me where I might verify that Nissan only sold 400 '98 240sx's in the states?
