Read this, it is under evo care and safety on lancerz.com, it sais (stock)the handeling is horrible, and the acceleration with a stock clutch is more like 6.6 seconds.and it sais that with standard mods, you will get engine cut out from the ecu, and that it has a VERY weak fuel pump. whats up with that?
EVOLUTION CARE AND SAFETY TIPS Tips from Evo Owner Andrew - EvoTrak.com Do not do the wheel nuts up with a rattle gun. Change oil every 5000k and all the other fluids regularly. Do not turn the boost up without monitoring the AF ratio. Replace the Evo VI Clutch as soon as possible. Handling is terrible, but this can be fixed with lowering the suspension and a non standard wheel alignment. Another good idea is to replace the tyres with some more decent ones. Restrictions are obvious starting with the 2.1 inch exhaust and strange intake. Once you free up these you then get fuel cuts, so new ECU (or fool it) then it goes lean due to a weak fuel pump. Fixing this lot and upping the boost should be good for about 340hp (flywheel) and into the 12s 1/4 mile runs. Driving Tips Don't get scared and lift off at the limit or you may spin, just keep the boot in and turn the wheel more. A useful safety tip for driving is slow down a bit before overtaking as it tends to freak people out if you go past at double their speed (or more)! Other Tips: Have a friend at a tyre workshop, because Evo's eat tyres faster then u can say Evolution. The standard car is surprisingly slow, it is impossible to do 4.4secs to 0-60 on the standard clutch, 6.6 is nearer the mark. Tips from Rod - Yahoo Group (evo) A good idea is to fix down the floor mats properly, otherwise they use the accelerator pedal as a stop. |

take a second to think.
A rally car going on the street? Of course its not made for it until they do modifications to fit the driving needs of every day drivers. Second, those are older models, you can't compare with the Lan Evo 7's new features with control and handling. T-H-I-N-K |

Hello everyone... This is my first post on the Lancerz Forum, so bare with me.
I've been to the Care & Safety tips section at lancerz.com and to be honest, some of the info is not convincing, the figures about the 0-60 with the stock clutch are absolutely wrong, Evo 6 does have clutch problems but no performance degrading with the stock clutch, it all depends on the driver when it comes to best 0-60 starts, some prefer to rev up the RPM above 2700-3000 RPM, and some flyoff from 7000-7500 RPM, doing a launch with the RPM around 7000-7500, 0-60 figures should be between 4.4-4.6sec's (Evo 6 TME) and that requires a quick shift to second gear by slipping the clutch once the gear is in second (gotta be really fast in gear change), there are other factors when it comes to performance, like the Fuel type, whether it's just a regular unleaded fuel with low octane level or high octane fuel, and temperatures play a big part as well. I don’t recommend others to do the 0-60 launches by slipping the clutch with rev's above 3000 RPM, you might not get the 4.4-4.6 figures with starts at 3000 or below, but you'll make your clutch last alot longer, I personally liked the way that guy drives on the "Evo VI Speed Meter video" at lancerz.com, he's quite fast in gear changing and his start from 0 was a good example on how to rev the RPM, I think he jumped off around 2700 RPM from what I can hear on the video.
