i drive a gti vr6 2.8L and lately i have been having problems i thought was caused from cold weather but it has warmed up and the problem consist.
When i shift from 1st - 2nd and so on... in btwn. each gear there is a big lag when i accelerate. almost like the car jumps. the tach light will go up with acceleration and then drop and then go up again even with consistent acceleration. Like the car lags behind when i need to go fast. i never had this problem before... and i hate the dealership closest to me... they are not friendly i thought it may be the fuel injectors so i put some RXP and the problem has not been as bad but is still there. the car is only 3 years old now and i wouldn't think the fuel injectors would go bad... or could they? any suggestions? |

Do you think the clutch might be slipping?

perhaps it is the fuel filter or fuel pump. or maybe a one of your belts. does the engine "choke" at higher speeds or steady high rpm's? being an 02 you should still under warranty, just take it in and find out for sure.

this is my first manual transmission... what are signs of the clutch slipping, and is it possible it would be covered under warranty? The problem is really bad when it's really cold outside and when i first drive it... after the car has warmed up a bit, the problem is still there but not as bad...

Re: 02' VR6 problem with shifting... please read
A slipping clutch more easily felt if you have the engine revved past 3000 rpm in third or fourth gear and make a quick shift to the next gear, letting the clutch out quickly and hitting the gas hard. The rpm's should drop quickly and not let the engine rev up then slowly come back down.

Ok, mine did the same thing and i had misfiring cylnders, but it could also be your throttle body, If you have a bad throttle body when you get on it, the throttle reaction will lag or not be good. And also your clutch could be slipping
