Usually in the 14 sec range somewhere. I believe the Notchbacks were capable of running into the HIGH 13 sec range with a really good driver.
Not many 5.0's are stock these days.
They have enormous potential.

Thumbs up newer

If you want a Fox body, get as new as possible. They did alot of little tweakings every year, so the 1993 would be the best. But if it is a SN95 go with the 1994 cool rims.

92 is the best year.
93 is actually probably the worst if you intend to modify.
92 was the last year they got forged pistons, STOCK.
93 recieved hyperutectic CRAP

acctually i think that the 87 is the best year to get, in the march issue of mm&FF they said it to be the best year for the 302. it has 10 hp more than all of the other 5.0 years. the only bad thing is that the 87 is not equipped with mass air, which is acctually not always the best. some say that the speed density is better. but anyway also it has the 85 mph spedo until '89 and a word of advise, if you find an 87 dont get ttops they are kinda cool and rare but they leak like a bitch

If you plan on doing any modifing, you will need Mass Air. Stock speed density does seem to put out better power, but try to add a bklower to it and your screwed.

actually IMO 89 is the best of the fox bodies! it was the first year for Mass air which is great for modifying, cause it responds really well to mods compared to speed density. it was the first year for 140mph Speedo. 89's also didn't have air bags which started in 90. those steering wheels are ugly, and there's more computer controlled crap for it. as stated 93 is the worst year, hp went from 225 to 215 because of hyperutectic pistions, that were used to save money.

A stock fox with a stick will run roughly 14.7 to 14.9 respectively and a a stock auto will run about 14.9 to 15.1 respectively a fox will run quicker times the a SN95 style Windsor powered stang, cause of the fact of the added weight of the new body style.

87ttopGT5.0, the 87 did NOT have 10 more HP the other years they all had 225 from 87 to 92, and in 93 went to 215hp as I stated earlier. I also find it hard to believe you ran 14.3 with just pulleys and exhaust. having t-tops and being a GT will make you car heavier, netting in slower times.

Blackbird01, notchbacks were capable of high 13 SEC 1/4 mile times stock, but that's rare and the driver would have to be dead on. It would have to have some suspension and chassis mods to keep traction and reduce chassis flex.

The website below has alot of good information on the history of the fox body mustangs. Most of the information on the website is accurate.

In response to what I have read....my first mustang was an 89 lx, and I can tell you from experience 88 speed density setup runs better on a mildly modified car. I agree that if you are planning to a forced induction setup, you need to convert to MAF.
The 93 mustang was rated at 205 stock, not 215 but is supposed to be the strongest setup to modify. If you are looking for a stock car with a good 1/4 time, I would recommend an 88 coupe....This is what I currently drive, and the only fox chassis mustang I personally would swap this car for would be the 93 cobra...
