Anyone know the 0-60 & 1/4 mile time is on the 5.3 V8?

Well, just as the title asks......

I need to know what the stock 0-60 time is for the 5.3 V8 with 4 wheel drive & a 3.73 rear end.

If anyone knows, I would also like to know the 1/4 mile time & speed if it is known.

I am just curious as if my few HP add ons are helping much.

Since I don't have a stopwatch, I have been only able to use the onboard timer which isn't all that good, but what it is telling me is that I am going 0-60 in 8 seconds....give or take a hair.
Seeing that the stock Tahoe does this in 8.8 according to Motor Trend....I may have done some good.

Thank you all who can help me out on this.

Adam

O.K......after MUCHO searching...again.....I have found my first bit of info on what I am lQQking for.

Here is what I found as far as times. It says nothing about what gear was used, but here it is:

0-60: 8.58
1/4 mile: 16.62 at 85.10mph

But then I found an article on the Envoy XUV & with the same motor it shows it to be faster......maybe it was tested with the 3.73 VS. the 3.42? Would be my guess.........The XUV can't be much lighter if any VS. the regular EXT could it? Could the gearing make that much of a diff? My guess would be yes.

0-60: 7.96
1/4 mile: 16.23 at 86.60

Well, that's it for now....if I come across any other times or info, I will post here for you all.

One thing to mention........STS Turbos can do a system for the 5.3L V8.
The shop that would install it would have to fabricate the pipes to make it work, but it would be fun! 5psi of boost which comes on full at 3000rpm's would give me an additional 100+ RWHP & 110+RWTQ
Dropping the 0-60 time & possibly the quarter 2 full seconds! YOWZAH!

O.K, doing some more searching, here is another time I found for the EXT TrailBlazer with the V8:

"Our rear-drive test car, weighing 236 pounds less than that last EXT, did the 0-to-60 run in 8.7 seconds and the quarter-mile in 16.8."
That being a rear drive only.........

The Tahoe tested at:

"the last Tahoe we tested ("Living Large," August 2002)—a four-wheel-drive LT with the same engine—sprinted to 60 in 8.3 seconds and ran the quarter in 16.5 seconds at 85 mph."

Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT V-8

Vehicle type: front-engine, rear-wheel-drive, 7-passenger, 5-door wagon
Price as tested: $34,875 (base price: $32,785)
Engine type: pushrod 16-valve V-8, aluminum block and heads, GM engine-control system with port fuel injection
Displacement 325 cu in, 5327cc
Power (SAE net) 290 bhp @ 5200 rpm
Torque (SAE net) 325 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm
Transmission 4-speed automatic with lockup torque converter
Wheelbase 128.9 in
Length 207.8 in
Curb weight 4960 lb
Weight distribution F/R 52.7/47.3%
Zero to 60 mph 8.7 sec
Zero to 90 mph 20.9 sec
Street start, 5-60 mph 8.9 sec
Standing 1/4-mile 16.8 sec @ 82 mph
Top speed (governor limited) 101 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph 198 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad 0.71 g
EPA fuel economy, city driving (est) 15 mpg
C/D-observed fuel economy 13 mpg

So there you have it....the poop, the whole poop & nothing but the poop!

So if that really is the time for the EXT with a V8, then the mods that I did to mine actually did work for me.

As far as the 0-90 time, I will try that one out when I can & get a better picture on how mine compares. Top speed was 101mph????!!!
Before, mine wouldn't go over 97 without having the automatic govenor kick in

Oh well, guess it all depends on what gearing you have & how much crap you have in it & options wise as well.
Overall, I am pretty happy with the improvements made to mine as it obviously has helped. More power is still on the way

I am always on the lQQkout for more information on our vehicles. Only problem with most of these tests is that they don't tell you what gearing they used.

Well, I finally had time to play on the interstate today.......

Of course there was a gusty cross wind & I ran it back & forth to see what the times would be....turns out to be the same, but I think that I could have achieved better results without the gusty wind.

Turns out my 0-90 times dropped by a full 2 seconds. Didn't know what I would expect, but I was hoping for better. I will try again after the wind dies down another day & see whats what.

0-90 in a dismal 19 compared to 21.9......(& that time is for an EXT with 2 wheel drive only & NOT 4 wheel!) but like I said, it was very windy today & so I may be able to do better. ---probably could do better if I cleaned the thing out on the inside Tons O' crap on the inside Baby toys & work junk everywhere.

Plus that & the fact that I am relying on the TB's timer on the dash. Not the most accurate huh?!

More playing on the highway today & after adjusting the programmer some more, my 0-90 times have dropped a little more. Now I am at a still very dismal 18 seconds compared to the stock 21.9.

My 0-60 time acording to the on board computer is now just under the 8 second mark. Still far from where it could be, but better than stock.

Oh well......I'll add more when the money gets available :-)
