For the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution to get 13's, the clutch has to be dropped around 6,500 RPM. The Mustang should achieve consistent quartermile times of 15's without having to rape the clutch. What's the quartermile time for the Evo using a less abusive 3,500 RPM launch?

Your friend runnin' 13's with a stock mustang, um...... yep. The Lancer was said to run a [email protected] by the "masters" at MOTORTREND. (Dont believe what you hear in magazines though)...i saw Lancers (2) at the track and those people were pulling off 13.3's-13.5's, i'm pretty sure they were stock too.

Re: Stock 93 5.0 1/4 time

i dunno motor trend is one of the best car magazines. car & driver also tested the EVO and it ran about a 13 flat. my friends Evo ran almost a 13 flat himself w/ his fat ass in the car and all the stereo equipment but w/ the downpipe and turbo back exhaust. and whats in it for those magazines to lie bout track times. its not like its gonna effect sales. even if it runs a mid 13 it can rip up ALMOST anything on the road for the price. and yea like i said before my friend is full of shit bout the 5.0 runnin 13's. hes just an ignorant all of a sudden tru mustang lover who thinks the 5.0 is the greatest motor ever built.

I didnt say that they "lied" about their times. I just meant that they sometimes forget to leave the line with everything stock (tires, backseats, spare tire, ect). BTW, dont come in here and talk about how great evo's are and how they can "rip ALMOST anything on the road" and dont say shit about the 5.0L b/c it is a GREAT motor. Nobody in this mustang forum wants to hear about that.

Re: Stock 93 5.0 1/4 time

no where in my post did i say how great the EVO was. i have a WRX which is straight up competition w/ the EVO so im not tryin to glorify it. and no where in my post did i say shit bout the 5.0L. ur rite its a great motor, but not the best of all time. its probaly one of the greatest Ford motors. and ur also rite nobody in the mustang forum wants to hear bout it, but alot of them will agree w/ me that the EVO is amazing and has come along way over the yrs. and how alot of them will probaly have respect for it. and its too late i already came in hear and said that the EVO can rip ALMOST everything on the road in it price range and beyond, including my WRX. i dont wanna come in hear and cause trouble cuz i have alotta respect for stangs and think there great cars. but some of u guys are gonna have to realize that u guys cant roll all over our cars like u used to.

IMO, the EVO is a quick nice car, but too damn ugly for my tastes.

Yes, the pushrod 5.0L architecture is a good platform. Mercedes Benz used a supercharge pushrod 5.0L engine in their recent +$100,000 AMG coupe. I heard an AMG drive by, and in my opinion, a 5 liter pushrod engine with a blower is the sweetest sound in the world. It's a nice and mellow rumble without any trumpet-like reverberations.

It's cool F23A4Racer750IL. The Mustang forum members have their phasers set in the stun position. I wasn't calling anyone out or anything like that. If I feel like wielding my flame thrower, I jump into the Honda forum. They've got flame threads in there that last for 10 pages. It's like having a B.B.Q at a propane refinery.
