Thumbs up Evo VI's in Australia

Looks like Australia Will be getting those 100 Makinen's on Order..how? i have no idea. I read today in the newspaper auto section that the Eclipse featured in the M-M ad was to be taken out as it wont be arriving, but also in that same ad there is a Black Evo VI T.M.E from both front and back views...so it looks like its coming, Im not sure about the Evo VII in that Ad...maybe they just didnt have the footage, who knows!

its been confirmed...well it was a while ago...Australia has recieved 100 EVO VI Tommi Makinen Edition Lancers. Apparently they arrived in May this year but were only released this month. (not too sure of this)

The Evo VII's will most likely not be arriving, maybe only by personal import.

I find it kinda humorous that all the US Evo lovers are killing to know when the EVO VII arrives, if it even does.

While us modest fellows in Australia have recieved our nice load of Makinen's last year. Wonder where our bloody Evo VII's are?

Probably wont be in for a while due to the new import law, any aussies know if its 100 of the make per year?

-----------------------------------------------------------

Any EVO owners in east sydney feel like taking me for a ride? lol (i'll feature your car on my site )

dudes, i dont want to burst your bubble but a couple of months back, June-Aug 01, there was a recall for the VIIs. Apparently, there was a fault in the clutch of the GSRs. The problem seemed to be rectified for now.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there was also a problem with AYC in the TMEs. Is this correct???

Just raising some thoughts. btw, the count in this country, I have seen at least 10 VIIs, same no. for the VIs, fewer Vs and IVs. Just 2 months ago, the local distributor brought in the VII RS for abt S$135,000 (approx) and I really salivated over the VII TME (with full WRC decals) at the local showroom.

If you ever come to Singapore, please keep you eyes peeled and a digicam ready.....

cheers, hs

EVO VII import to Australia

I'm currently living in Japan, but thinking of moving to Aus. I have to take my Evo VII with me!! It is just fantastic. Does anyone in Aus have an Evo VII? What modifications need to be made to get the car into Aus? I am not Australian so I'm not sure about the import laws, what is the recent change in the law that is going to affect grey imports? Any advice would be appreciated.

Im really not sure about the regulations in regards to a personal import.
But if your bringing it over, I dont think they will stop you.

We dont have all the little regulations the US does, so I dont see it being too much trouble bringing it over.

Which part of Australia are you moving too? Oh, if you move to Sydney, can I get a ride? pls

Import it, what are you waiting for.

You guys get all the cool shit when it comes to cars, before we do anyway. This summer, your winter, i'm gonna come down there to do some snowboardin, you guys gonna take me to the best hill?
Thats probably the only way i'm gonna touch an evo before 2003!
