gas pedal

Today I was driving along my merry little way and noticed that most of the time when I hit the gas it takes a few seconds to engage and when it does it lets off a little jerk (very noticeable). Is this normal? By the way I have an SS and my mods are down below.

Thanks

Yes like a hesitation, I think the check engine light has came on twice in the past but not for a while. When it did come on I couldn't find anything wrong, even took it to the shop to check my hoses and stuff that couldn't find anything either.

you may have a bad o2 sensor, or at least a dirty one. get a diagnostic check on it from the dealer ($65-$70 usually) and they could tell you exactly if a bad o2 sensor is triggering the check engine light and which may, and most likely, be causing the hesitation problem. if so, do NOT purchase an o2 sensor from the dealer. they'll charge about $630 for one sensor. and there's two o2 sensors on the lude, one before the cat and one after. you can get one from an autozone or pep boys for around $240 each. oh, and if required in your area, you're gonna fail the emissions test with a bad o2 sensor and won't be able to register your car. just a heads up for you in case.

hesitation

I have a similar problem with my 4th gen SI.. Around 3000 - 4000 RPM, i have a slight hesitation when accelerating. You feel it more the faster you accelerate, but it never occurs in any other RPM range... Ever heard of a problem like that before?

Also, I don't want to steal the thread, but what are the benefits of a long CAI as compared to the normal length CAI? Does spooling the air help at all?

Exclamation

Something my Honda tech keeps reminding me about with my 99SS-there is a lag built into the tranny and its computer. I have complained that in normal mode it sometimes takes a while to "spool" up and he said that is normal as the hydraulics in the gearbox are designed for this. In SS mode it should be almost instant if you don't simply mash the pedal. As to the CEL-I agree with Del that you should get a diagnostic seeing as you have a modded engine. Most of the stock Honda sensors go betwee $200 and $350 at the dealer (I know as I just bought one for the CRX)-list prices. If you go with aftermarket, make sure it is from the same manufacturer as there have been cases where the part either does not work correctly or fails in a short time.

Re: gas pedal

I have the same problem with my 97 Prelude but found some ways it can be fixed...
1.You could adjust your throttle cable tighter because over time they tend to slack.
2.You could purchase a weapon R throttle rotor. It helps a bit with throttle response.
3.Check fuel injector,fuel pump,spark plugs,spark wires, cap & rotor.
4.Use fuel injector cleaner.
5.adjust throttle body bolt or see if your air/fuel mixture is balanced.
6.check sensors like posted above. It could be bad or gettting bad. O2 sensor primarly. but also check TPS as it might have something to do with it also.
I did all these and they seemed to help but not get rid of it. I found out that my OBDII p5m ecu was somehow not reacting with my mods too well. So what I did was convert to OBD1 JDM P13 and my problem have seem to be cured. Dont know why this could be but what do you guys think.
