Re: Missin part

Contact hlj.com or Rainbowten, they can usually get replacement parts for Hasegawa kits.

Sounds like your hobby shop owner is a royal a-hole.

Re: Missin part

IIRC, Japanese kits aren't shrink-wrapped at the factory. I think Tamiya does it at their US HQ before distribution. Not sure about the others. I know many hobby stores have their own shrink wrap machines so they can open boxes, then "reseal" them.

How does this help you? I don't know. This time, not so much. Try one of the contacts Ray posted.

Maybe be sure to open packages in the parking lot in the future... So you can walk right back in moments later. Heck, I agree with Ray, that this shop owner's a bit of a prick, so I'd make a big production about opening the box while i was still in the store after this...

Re: Missin part

You should make a big sign and picket his store on the busiest time of the week

Seriously, I've has similar things happen and had no trouble getting an exchange from the store. As Jay said, don't buy the excuse of "factory shrinkwrap", because the japanese companies don't do it.

I've tried contacting the importer/distributer when this has happened to me in the past.

Again, the alternative is to go through HLJ. Don't bother contacting Hasegawa as they do not deal with public requests and ignore you altogether.

In terms of your local hobby shop, sounds like a real loser, don't bother going back there again!

Yeah, send an email to [email protected] and include the following info:

1) Kit number (preferably HLJ's product codes).

2) Kit description.

3) Required part code (from instruction manual) or description.

4) Quantity.

5) Your HLJ customer ID no.

You should get a confirmation email within a couple of days.

Good luck.

one tip in the future.

If youre at a hobby shop, ask the person at the desk if you can open up the box before you buy any thing, just to make sure every thing is there.
If they refuse, explain to them that they wont be making any money off of you if they refuse it.

i do this when i am indoubt of some thing

Re: Missin part

One thing I always do at the LHS is open the model after I bought it. Right in front of the clerks because I had this happen once before.

I would suggest the same to everyone else. Buy and open your models at the store.

Post here the name and address of this hobby shop. He might change his tune once he hears that a major internet forum is boycotting him. Also, my local newspaper runs a column where you can write in to complain about treatment like this. They will contact the business to try to get satisfaction for you - and publish the result in the newspaper. It's amazing how quickly retailers want to help you once they know that they are under the glare of publicity. Perhaps your local newspaper has a similar column?

Re: Missin part

You may want to reply to make certain, but it sounds like HLJ is expecting you to pay for the part.

Makes sense, because they didn't fudge up your kit.

They body part from most kits is usually ~500-600 yen, or about $5. Then they'll probably charge you a couple bucks for shipping, too.

All because of that jerk-off store owner. Blame him.
