i voted more than 4 times a week if u count stupid little stoplight races, but if u only wanna count the actual dragstrip or organized street race i go 2 times a week, friday and saturday night.

as for why i street race? why do people play basketball? it feels good to smoke someone on the strip just like it feels good to slam on someone on the basketball court. also its a chance to hang out with other people who share my love for cars. its a place where everyone puts aside their differences to come together over one common interest. its not uncommon to see an asian kid who drives a civic and a white boy who drives a camaro talking to each other about how much they like some spanish guys bmw. its also a way to keep out of trouble, i know youre thinking street racing is getting into trouble, but if it wasnt for racing id prob be doing something that could get me more than a ticket but instead im putting my energy into something more creative, like working on my car and practicing driving my car.

seriously. the REAL racers, not the rice fags........i trust the real racers more than anyone else on the road. They KNOW theyre cars, they have experience driving, especially high speed driving.

Also ditto to absolutely everything ldelaysionl said. We arent punks that go out to hurt people or do it in the middle of traffic all irresponsibly. Most of us WOULD rather keep it at the track.

Streetracing, the Anti-Drug

i street race because its a tradition that has been handed down generation after generation. i love cars, and i love the camraderie that results when you get a bunch of gearheads like myself get together at 1 or 2am. when looking on the outside, many people only see the needle-dick ricer and 15 year olds with 5.0s(just an example) who drive around 24/7 like they have something to prove.

the real racer knows there is a time and a place for everything. parking lots, streets, and places with lots of people during the day are neither the time nor the place. we race in the early morning in places that we keep to ourselves for safety reasons, and because we don't like the poser crowd mingling with us. this is the main reason why people don't know the true story of street racing- because we puposefully isolate ourselves. to a real racer, their car is an extension of their very body. like an arm or a leg. they have the utmost respect for their machine and know exactly what it can and can't do.

FASTR, things by me are the same way.
There's a parking lot we all meet to talk and setup races. The place is usually PACKED with rice, most of them throwing trash everywhere and ripping up and down the isles speeding and/or doing burnouts. It's homo's like that, that get us kicked out of the parking lot.
Well, then the cops show up, and if you don't have a race setup by then, you'll know where to meet the other REAL racers. The rice scatters and those that KNOW what's goin' on will meet up at another location to finalize race agreements (IE - Spots, Cash, etc) This is fun, but very risky. Cops have been onto it for a while, even in the really remote locations out in the booneys, and the races have to be kept short. You get in, do your burnouts, line up, race, come back and get out. Then meet at the original location to exchange money.

Of course, there's also the light to light shit. If I line up at a light next to a car that looks like it would give me a good run, I'll concider racing, if conditions are good. If there's too much traffic, no way. Not gonna risk it.

"its not like were smoking crack........."

but if we ever do get high, we wont forget to bring the towel

its also all about pushing your car to the limit. Spending hours in a garage over scattered parts of your loved one on a bench, or under it (yeah, my car likes to be on top). Its making your car YOURS and then showin what it's got. I liked the "its an extension of yourself" thing, because thats completely right. It is!

I really only stoplight race, whenever another person is willing.
I am only driving a 91 eclipse GS with minimal mods, like a header, K&N air filter and
removed balance shaft and ac belts. Shes slightly quick.

I put " I don't want to get my car dirty " actually thats not true in reality no one around here ever wants to race (there's mostly just old people around here) I have heard about some people around here who do a form of organize street racing but really I think it's just a couple of 5.0l Mustang guys (not that I wouldn't mind racing them even if they would beat me ) I'm just afraid to blow something up in the middle of nowhere and have to walk back to town for help (or hurting myself). I like to go to the bigger towns near by cause people there will race stoplight to stoplight, but that really doesn't excite me. I got to start going to the strip .

i race because i cant describe the feeling i get when i do it. you see, i can pretty much describe anything and everything, but when im sitting in my car, lights about to turn green, guys about to flag us, theres something about that feeling. i just cant describe what its like. my hands get light, yet very strong, my eyes see nothing but his car behind me, and my surroundings get very minimal. my feet shake, then become very coordinated, my radio gets uninteresting, and my worries seem to be nonexistant.

thats why i race...

damn straight, more people need to realize that, just coz you drive hard doesnt mean youre gonna wreck. Its when you drive carelessly
