civic vs. teg weight

ok, is a 92-95 civic EX lighter than a 94-01 GSR? I am thinking of wither JRSC and boost upgrade and VPAC and I/H/E or get the civic do the swap and do the same.

is the swap very complicated oir does the engine and tranny fit in without many modifications? also, which of the 2 would handle better? and which of the 2 cars have better brakes?

okay...i didn't answer any questions. I'm assuming you're wanting to take an engine from a GSR or what? I'm a little confused with the question. Anyways, if you're putting a GSR engine into the Civic it isn't an extremely difficult process. If you have the tools, a little patience, and any car knowledge at all you should be able to complete the task. I believe the 92-95 Civic is the easiest model to swap an engine into. It should be a simple bolt-in process.

well, that info did help, and also the questions i was asking is which car is heavier? which car corners better and stops better? because obviously wiht the same engine and tranny and perfrmance part, the lighter car will win a race, but handling and stopping power also affects my decision. I just learned of hondamotorsonline.com and went there and i can get the JDM GSR swap parts for 3300, but the JDM type R is only 1500 more, yes that is a big difference in price for me because im 18, but the type r has the LSD tranny and doesnt it come with headers already?

so will the type r fit in as easily as the GSR engine, it should but i am not sure, also, I have spoken to JR and they say that they have dynoed a GSR with boost upgrade and SC, and it put 226 HP to the wheels and then the type R with only SC puts 209.1 HP, but you cant get the boost upgrade for the type R engine, will the GSR boost upgrade work fopr a type R engine? what about turbo? what is a good turbo for a type R or GSR motor? also is it safe for on a stock engine run a turbo and then have like a 50 shot of nos just to help sppol the turbo in a race? but i have also heard you dont use nos unless you are abovea certain RPM's so how dop you use it to spool the turbo?

The teg would be a bit heavier....It weighs just over 1100kg. It wouldn't be too much difference in weight though, because my sisters EK hatchback b16a weighs 1100 according to the registration papers.

The integra would definitely handle better through corners and stuff. The hatch would suffer more understeer/oversteer probs. GSR comes with better brakes also. Front and rear discs, I believe 92- 95 civics may have rear drums...not definite though....

I've driven a 93 civic, and it doesn't handle as well. Teg holds better during corners

It is safe to run a turbo and N20 on your engine if, and only if, you have taken the time to research your engine and find out all of the information there is to know. It would probably be safe to run up to 8psi of boost on your engine, but in my opinion, it is a big risk running a turbo period without reinforcing your engines internals. There are alot of things you need to know about your engine before you tackle the turbo (compression ratios,...etc.). The N20 will help the turbo by acting as a sort of "psuedo" intercooler and help maintain a low temperature for your car. It will, like you said, also help the turbo spool up at a low RPM. So my best advice for you is to continue asking questions about anything you are uncertain about, becuz even I have alot to learn about the turbo/nos setup. That is the only way to be sure you're making the right decision down the road.

Most likely, you'll get wheel spin if you use the 50shot on the launch. You gotta use the NOS AFTER the launch. I'm not sure how much after though.

5th gen civics weigh a lot less than 94-01 tegs. I know I can smoke an ls integra if i were to race him. I weigh roughly 250-350 lbs less than one. And a civic hatchback weighs even less than I do(except for the si)
I know people say its real easy... Keep in mind, your dx radiator wont hook up to your GSR(or any teg engine) correctly. I know my hose leaks a bit since my radiator is smaller than the hose. Plus, i know everyone says "just pound in the axles, they work" yes they do, but I think the shop that put in my axles fucked them up, because once in awhile, ill hear the axle clunk(if i corner and give it gas) but it isnt bad at all, rarely happens. So if you dont want the chance of your axles fucking up during the install... you will have to get the 92-95 honda civic ex, or si front suspension (hubs, rotors, knuckle, etc) brand new your looking at 700 a SIDE, or 300-500 used for both sides. I know if I did my swap again, I would have saved the extra 300 for used ex suspension.... Cuz I think the shop messed up my left axle during the install... Also, keep in mind you will have to customize your throttle cable. I know I have a ghetto setup Paul made for me, it works, but its not perfect. Or you can get a custom machined throttle cable bracket.. Ill do that when im not too lazy too get it done... There are some other things... I know my stock exhaust manifold(header) would not hookup with my dx catty... Altho i fixed that problem by getting custom piping with an exhaust... I hope this helps... BTW i got an ls swap...

well, why do i need the upgraded ex or si suspension, this would be a civic EX because I want all the power options and the moon roof. so id already have EX suspension, and do you mean pund in the stock axles or the ITR axles? and what about engine mounts?

Thanks

ok, are you putting this itr swap into a 5th gen 92-95 or a 96-00? Cuz if u have a 5th gen ex civic, you dont need to poiund the axles in. You have ti use the integra ones, cant use the civic ones. Now you also need the integra engine mounts, the 2 sides, front, and rear for a 5th gen.. I think with a 6th gen civic, you need to get the rear mount from a 99-00 si for the integra engine to work.... You only need to pound the integra axles into dx/cx/vx/lx hubs, because they are larger....

95 ex coupe 2443 lbs.
95 Si hb 2326 lbs.
94-01 gsr 2667 lbs.
the si hb come with 4 wheel discs the 92 models are a little lighter because they only came with driver air bag.

ok, well it would be in a 92-95 civic unless i found a 96-98 civic for cheap with lots of miles, but I dound a 94 LS with rims/drop/intake/headers/front G. FX/ tint/110k miles/5 spd/ 2 dr./white for 7500. so mayhe ill get that and SC it and then do a bit more to it. A big factor in my desision is what will be overall cheapest. and I will get the EX or LX always, and the teg just not RS, because I want all the power stuff.
