Angry Very frustrating...

I have all my completed models sitting on shelves in my room, I was away for the weekend and I find out my mom has painted my room. I come back to find all my model supplies missing and all models missing. I check in the den and see boxes with all my models thrown into a box, everything is broken now...paint is scratched, decals are broken, my Peugeot chassis is ripped apart with the body shell broken off. No care was taken to ensure anything was put away safely. Every single model has wheels missing now and I cant find parts for anything. Its all a really big mess now. Paint thrown about. Maybe if I would have talked to my mom about the effort and care put into my cars she would have taken care of them better.

Re: Very frustrating...

My happiest day was when I got my own place to live and now no one can destroy what I make. But my son will grow up soon and then disaster strikes back, but hey thats life, keep on rooling and building them untill next devastation.

Re: Very frustrating...

Damn! That's sad! Is it just me or it seems like moms have usually great difficulties to understand the fact that modeling is not a kind of "let-me-stay-a-child" hobby for their sons?...

Could we stick this thread at the top of the forum and name it: "To moms' attention... READ THIS FIRST!" ...? (trying to joke a little, but I'd understand if you don't ...)

( ... working for wifes too?...)

My mom knows how much I care about my models.. She would tell me before she painted my room, and I'd probably pack the stuff myself before I leave on a trip or whatever. Also, she knows how much money I spend on the because she usually buys them for me..

Re: Very frustrating...

My mom is cool. She doesn't come into my room to do anything. So she has no need to remove my models from their shelvs.

Good idea. Go to your mom like an insurance company saying that she is the one that caused a 30+car pile up and she needs to pay for the damage.

Royal Navy. Same as his Dad before him and his Grandfather before that.

Re: Very frustrating...

In fact, my room is such in a real mess that nobody can enter it anymore!... Nor building models inside neither, I must say... But there may be room enough for 3 or 4 forthcoming kits boxes!!!

Thanks god I live with a roomate that loves my models as much as I do. I would probably lose it if all my models got destroyed or even blemmed.

That reminds me of a model I built 12 or so years ago, that simply disappeared from my room. I'm sure my one of my parents destroyed it by mistake and threw it in the garbage to cover up, but I never bothered to ask... some of my other really old builds (from before I got serious about it) suffered heavy damage at the hands of my parents or even myself by mistake, but they just go into the spare parts box now.
