Question Mustang V.S. Evolution

Ok one of my friends has a 200 Ford Mustang SVT, it has a V8, Supercharger, and a six speed. He and one of the "rich kids" from school are going to drag race out on this closed highway off of Highway 151. The rich kid has a Mitsubishi Evolution which I think is bone stock with a 5 speed (I think).

Well my friend with the Ford is kind of a gear head and has that car running perfect and he's also a hell of a driver, I just don't now if the Mustang can take the Evo . Despite the fack that it is a pretty straight highway (a few wide easy corners but it should favor the Mustang)

Thanks!

Re: Mustang V.S. Evolution

....... Well I would think that has the potential to be a drivers race but there are alot of factors that will probably play into the race. First and most important is driver skill. Now the stang owner will have to know how to launch is car because we all know about the deadly AWD LAUNCH! (I love my gsx) But also remember that AWD drivetrains have greater hp loss to the wheels because of the drivetrain and might not be so good at higher speeds (I hate my gsx). But anywayz, I say if its a quarter mile stop to go run, put your money on the evo. But if it's from a go......... well then it's gonna be close, but I'd probably still put the money on the evo.

Re: Mustang V.S. Evolution

if he knows how to drive your gona see the evo kill him off the line, most likely the evo will win the race but if he can drive a lot better than the evo driver then he has a chance of winning

Re: Mustang V.S. Evolution

im gonna have to disagree i think ur friend could take him in the svt imo the evo will most likely get him off the line but the stang will pull like crazy after that

Re: Mustang V.S. Evolution

A 2000 SVT makes 385 hp and 385 ft pounds of torque stock and with a 0-60 time of 4.5 sec. Then you add a Supercharger that is a FAST car. He's never told me the exact horsepower figures, but he has shown me the engine and that thing is sweet. If you don't belive my info go to http://www.fast-autos.net/ford/fordmustangcobrar.html

Oh yea I should mention that the mustang is a 2000 Ford SVT Mustang Cobra R; I just call it an SVT because it takes too long to say "2000 Ford SVT Mustang Cobra R"

Re: Mustang V.S. Evolution

04-2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII

The 8th-gen Evo is a hardcore rally-bred sports car based on the restyled Mitsubishi Lancer econocar, but underneath its skin lies a powerful turbocharged engine and an advanced four-wheel-drive system. Detuned for the US market.

show me were a 2000 cobra runs 13.1
now if were talking the 2003 cobra svt then thats a diff story. most people are running about 13.4 with there evo's as you would have to be a superb driver to get 13.1. obvioulsy many of you have not been doing your homework. they had tons of evo vs sti comparisons in magazines and they ran them at 13.1 and 13.2. if you doubt my knowledge then ask a moderator and or do a little more homework. im not trying to sound like an a$$ but it seems as if you guys don't know a lot about the evo-8

Re: Mustang V.S. Evolution

If I'm correct, the 1999-2000 svt isn't stock supercharged and was only a 5 speed. Now if this guy put in a aftermarket super then bye bye evo (if the stang can drive) but if it's an 01-02 svt then they were stock supercharged and 6 speed. in that case it's a drivers race (but my money's still on the evo.)

2001 Ford Mustang Svt (stock supercharged)
Obtained from C&D July, 2001
0-60: 4.8 1/4 Mile: 13.5
1/4 Speed: 105

1999 Ford Mustang SVT (not stock Supercharger)
0-60: 5.5
1/4 Mile: 14.1
1/4 Speed: 101

2004 Mitsu EvoVIII
Obtained from C&D June, 2003
0-60: 4.6
1/4 Mile: 13.1
1/4 Speed: 105

I don't know what some of you guys are talking about - there's a supercharger on that Mustang. How in the heck is a bone stock EVO going to hang with that sucker. Unless the guy has a terrible launch and misses some shifts, it won't even be close.

Well first off, you never said your pal had a Cobra "R".Thats a different car then just a Svt.If your buddy actually has a Cobra R then yea he would take the Evo.Seeing as how the Cobra R came supercharged.Did you not know this??Cuz it sure sounds like you just keep finding new stuff on the net and then are like "oh what i meant was this"

And what are you talking about "one of th rich kids from school".The cobra R is almost 20 grand more then an Evo and you are making seem like "this rich kid" has a fukkin supercar.Get your facts straight buddy.Cuz your buddy is one of these "rich kids" too if you haven't noticed.Regardless if he's a gear head or not, the money has to be comming from somewhere to afford one of those.

Also, if your buddy does have a "cobra R" post pix.

cuz i'm callin BS until you show me that your "rich kid" buddy has a cobra R.
