pinstripe removal

hey... i'm attempting to remove a pinstripe from my car... i was told to "treat it like a bumper sticker" and it'll be fine... but it sure is taking one heck of a long time. any suggestions? (ive done the adhesive removal thing btw)

use a heat gun (or blow dryer) and goo gone...that what my friend did and thats the way im going to do it too

using a blow dryer does work, or you could try rubbing with soap and water, or I've heard using goo gone, and then using blow dryer works really well too.

i also removed my pinstripe. Use blow dryer, goo gone, and bumper sticker remover spray (similar to goo gone). I then used my fingernails until i finally got it all off. My pinstripe was 6 years old so it was harder than yours might be.

yea my freind had a 95 civic too and she said it was hard to get off too. my car is brand new tho so i dont think ill have a tough time

I just peeled mine right off then waxed it to get rid of the marks the machine made when putting it on.

I was told that some stripes were acyually painted on. But a body shop could remove them, even it they were painted.

ok, sorry to sound real stupid but u r talking about the little stripethat runs down the sides of the car right. I jus need to clarify before i go out and start using all these products on my car. i want to get rid of mine bad and a shop told me they would have to basicly shave it off and repaint the area cause it was baked on or something. so what u guys are saying is that if i use a hair dryer and some goop off i can remove it myself without causing any damage to my paint. if thats true i will be getting some goop off tomorrow. cause i hate that dam stripe. thanks for the info.

on the new celicas they have painted accents that go with the pin stripes

most of the time it depends and what color your car is and how old it is because paint fades over time and that is why they might have to repaint over the area where the pin stripe was.

Paint fades over time, no way of avoiding that. On a car that's at least 3 years old, removing the pinstripes will leave you with a line that is a different shade of your paint color. The older the car the worst the color difference. Also happens if you leave a bra on your car for years. Something to keep in mind.

Use the back of a breadknife (NOT the cerrated edge) and tons of QD and scrape with gentle force. It came off pretty quickly. Or if you don't want to risk scratches, use a credit card of some sort.
