Hmm....what's better?
And no...this isn't another stupid "what's better.....a _______ or a _______" thread.
I was wondering what's better to use when running raised boost levels...92+octane fuel from the pump with all the weird shit they put in gas or the cheap gas + a bottle of that "octane up" shit. I don't even know if that stuff works but I assume it does. There are 2 reasons I ask. 1) I'd REALLLLLLLY rather not use the gas with all the goofy shit in it...my car runs on gasoline....not "techron"....it doesn't run on "octane up" either....but....yea.... 2) There isn't anywhere around here that I know of to get anything above 92 octane....never even seen 118 race fuel around here...either they don't sell it at (most) gas stations or I'm just not seeing it. My dad used to be able to get jet fuel, but he doesn't work at the airport anymore...damn.....

You have a turbo Z. Do not EVER put anything but 91 or much preferably 92 octance gas in it. It doesn't matter what you add, don't run lower octance gas. Period.
I don't know if you know this but the octane rating represents how resistant to ignition the gas is. The harder it is to light, the harder you can run because it reduces the risk of the gas lighting off before the spark. The spark will always light off the gas provided the plugs work. This is why race gas is rated at like 110 octane or whatever the situation requires. To run 30 PSI you got to be sure of what is going to happen in the engine. Otherwise your engine will explode. If you want to add octance booster to the 92 octane then go ahead.

I'm pretty familiar with how the octane stuff worked...just wasn't sure about the octane boost stuff and what not. Thanks for the info.
Also....quick note....I don't have that car *YET*. If all goes as planned, I will get it June 7th...<crosses fingers>.

Re: Hmm....what's better?
well...
putting expensive gas with "stuff" in it from the pump, or putting cheap gas from the pump is no different. they both have "stuff" in them. sorry... |
