RS, AMG, or M??

this is the '05 RS6 EDIT: see my post below

or this '04 E55 AMG

or

talk about hard choices here. that RS6 looks sick as hell. no real numbers on the RS6 but word is a V10 is being talked about. kinda hard to choose without facts but 2005 looks like it's gonna be a fun year for luxury sports sedans with the new M coming out and this new RS6.

Re: RS, AMG, or M??

M!!!!

The RS6 might put out some impressive numbers, if I want to some technology to drive my car Ill stick with the playstation. Same with the AMG. Merc's have always been about isolating the driver and making him comfterble. If I want to be isolated Ill again stick with the PS2.

At this level of performance 1/4 mile times, skid pad numbers and top speed don't mean a lot. They will all be so close that on a long run down the coast, or point to point on a long trip they become meaningless.

Re: RS, AMG, or M??

M, for similar reasons to Moppie, but somehow I still would feel more inclined to go for the E39 M5, I can somehow see technology ruining this beast.

1 - E55
2 - RS6
3 - M5

It would be a toss-up between the RS6 and E55 for me. I'd have to drive the Audi before making a final decision. So, since I've actually driven the E55 I have to go with it. I love everything about that car, except for the audio and convenience control modules randomly shutting off and burning up of course. But you guys didn't hear that from me.

Re: RS, AMG, or M??

///M. You cannot compare their pedigree, motor racing history/experience or previous cars to Audi which has only recently started producing RS cars again after a very long time, or the all automatic AMGs. ///M make cars that handle, thats why the badge was never put on a 7 Series or X5 even though it would have helped sales.

///M Power

If the stats supercars.net has on the E60 M5 are correct, then the M is the way to go. 500bhp, naturally aspirated (tons of potential, imagine a supercharged one). AND it has a new SMGIII 7-speed which will be incredibly sexy.

I'm hoping the new M5 will be light weight and balanced. 530 or 550hp from rumours I've heard would be a bonus. What do you guys think about the M5 coming in a coupe?

Re: RS, AMG, or M??

Can you hang the tail out in an RS6? Will you live to tell the tale if you try it in an E55?

When i read 'RS' in the thread title i assumed you meant Porsche's RS models. Audi don't make sports cars. They havent made one in years.

Went for a thrash in my neighbour's E39 M5 last night, still a stunning drive and the best sports saloon half a decade after its birth. Like all M cars, the new M5 will be beautifully balanced and by far the most sporty out of the three competitors mentioned here.

1. M5

2. E55
3. RS6

RS6

looks better, shifts nicer, better interior, superior exterior
AWD, less traction loss than BMW. And the looooks!!

the m5 might be faster, but heck, the design makes me wanna puke
plus I don't like BMW in general.

I don't know what's going on in the us, but you see dirty 318s with farmers/ginos/prollos (I don't want to insult anyone here! But come here and you'll see, that's the way it is) in it here all day, thinking they're driving a formula 1 instead of rattling-1200$-plastic-carts.

countless numbers, I don't think theyre more common anywhere else than in Germany. They're compared with a VW Golf here, Germany's number-one car. So, shitty reputation and I can't see it's looks anymore.

Some (half-official) facts about the new M5:
0-60 4.6s
5l V10 (yay)
yes, 500hp - only 500 Nm, redline at 8300 rpm
lowered by 30mm, 19" 255/285
edit two:

SMGII shifts in 0.08 sec!
the M5 is supposed to reach 125mph in 13s!!

anyways, RS6
I'm biased, my father owns two Audis

edit: oh, and before I forget it - I like the E55, but it's too large and too heavy for me.

did you know the bmw smiley?

OO \(|||)(|||)/ OO

1. RS6
2. M5/E55

M5 handles out RS6 and E55
For younger, succesfull businessmen or rich kids, I'd think.

RS6 is perfect in comfort/handling
Catches everyone's eye, everybody likes it, once you bought one, you'll never buy anything else than Audi.

E55 is for wealthy older men which like comfortable, fast driving.
they don't care about numbers.

Re: RS, AMG, or M??

even us moderators can make mistakes. it's one of those EXTREMELY rare instances where an AF moderator has made a mistake. haha. jus playin.

anyway, i'll apologize in advance for not doing my proper research. the pic of that "RS6" was sent to me by a friend who was balls out about it and had convinced me that this was going to be the new RS6. i think this RENDITION look sick as hell and do hope the RS6 does look like that.

i did some digging and happend across this, on which that RS6 rendition was based on.

still a bad ass looking car nonetheless but no RS6.
sorry fellas. my bad. but let's continue to vote as if it WERE the RS6. props to the artist of that rendition. that fooled a lot of people. even the almighty del. jus playin.

i should just ban myself.

Re: RS, AMG, or M??

1. RS6
2. M5
3. E55
I would vote for the RS6, it looks nice a hell and it stands out. There are E-classes all over the place and the only thing differentiating the E55 from a E320 or a E500 is the E55 badge in the back. I never really liked Mercs anyways. I love BMW's but the new M5 (I think) looks ugly, but the M5 is also going to have a awesome v10 with 500 hp. So it is a hard choice between the RS6 and M5.
