Question Caliper Paint for Black 2002

Hey everyone. I'm pretty new to this board. Been reading current and past posts for hours over the last few nights, and I love listening to different opinions. I just purchased a 2002 Black G20 with the sport package. I haven't really done anything to it yet other then take off the G20 symbol (looked a little unbalanced being all on one side), changed my map lights to blue, added an Infinity Basslink powered sub in the corner of my trunk, got the windows tinted, and I'm waiting on my PIAA Plasma headlights and aluminum brushed dash kit.
Well, my true question is, I am thinking about painting the brake calipers, but not sure which color I should do it. I'm mainly thinking either blue or red, but don't know if it would look funny with a black paint job. Should I just leave them? Should I paint them black? What do you guys think? Thanks.

Many of us call this home, so welcome to your new home!

I painted my calipers red, not only because I have a red G, but because I have white wheels and wanted the colors to coincide with one another, as my color scheme is red/black/white.

Like Azn said, it's up to you - whatever you like. I've seen some black cars with yellow and some with red calipers. Just make sure you buy good caliper paint and not paint it yourself like some guy did and then his red painted calipers turned orange ew.

Go w/ hot pink! -just kiddin'

I've got a black G and was thinking the same thing. I wanted to go w/ white but I don't know how it will look if it gets dirty. I was also thinkin' about silver or red. Let me know what you do and how it comes out!

Peace!

I've been thinking this too. Even though my secondary color is blue I'm going to try and find some silver brake laquer. I don't want it to look too ricey but I hate that rusty look.

I own a Black 2002 G20 Sport too!!! Its' good to hear someone besides me is moding their Black G20 in the Bay Area. I would have to say go with red brake calipers on a Black car. My friend with a Carbon Blue Celica GTS first painted his blue but we all agreed it looked like shit and he painted them red the next day. But I would wait to paint the calipers until I got some wheels because you cant really see the calipers with Sport wheels.

Yeah, I was thinking red. I know it looks good on a red car, or a silver car, just not sure how it would look with black. I guess it would look good, since the red of the taillights looks sweet against the black. At the very least I want to paint them black, because they already are starting to look ugly being plain after just a few weeks of owning this baby.

I live here in San Jose, but I go to school down in SoCal, so. . . thats where it will be 90% of the time for the next couple years.

If you do paint them get the good kits. I think they run around $50, but if you use the high temp paint they have at checker or somewhere like that, it'll crack and flake off, and look horrible... i worked with augy who used brake paint (my guess is just high temp paint) and it even did the same thing.
Would powdercoating damage the seals in the caliper? and would this layer of paint/powdercoat material hinder braking performance or better said ...cooling of the calipers? thanks!

there is such thing as caliper paint, i believe you only paint the "back" of the caliper. not the inside part where the piston and brake pads sit. i doubt it would affect the braking performance or cooling, but anyone know here from experience?

The paint I bought and it was specifically for calipers cost me $50 - like AZN mentioned.

It's called

"FOLIA TEC CARSTYLING BRAKE CALIPERLACQUERSET" - it's a German product.

Comes in Red,Speedyellow,Racingblue,Silver,Black and gold.

And Azn was right, just use it on the calipers and nothing more - If you use it somewhere other than the calipers, you might have a problem taking off the wheel or the assembly - don't know from experience, but that's what it mentioned in the instructions .

Welcome along to AF.

I think a nice deep red would be nice.
I've thought about this too, but what the hell goes with Gunmetal ???

red will look good with black .....I used Hammerite on the calipers and brake drum on my first car, never had any problems with it, no cracking or flaking of any sort......
