Question window tint

Any basic advice you can offer on window tinting? I'm considering it for a 2002 330xi.

Good or bad experiences?

Recommendation for a shop that does it in Massachusetts?

Ask around and find a good shop. I would not go beyond the limit that the law sets. Here in California people get tickets for tints that are supposed to be within the limit. I really dislike the looks of a car when the rear tint is higher % than the front, even on a coupe it looks stupid. Anyhow that is my humble opinion.

Post some pics if you have it done.

the next upgrade, february 24, is an H&R coil over. the 330xi stock suspension is weak -- high and tippy.

sweet!! you will definately enjoy them. About the tint, just dont do it by yourself!! too many cars have that bubbly purple crap on their windows and it sickens me!

i forgot to ask...what type of tint? mirror tint looks really good on almost any color car. but then again so does just the regular black tinted windows, and sometimes the mirror tint looks a bit rice.

Probably just black tint. The car is black saphire metallic with a sand interior.

I will definitely have someone else do it.

Question: Would you tint the front window too? Seems like that might be a problem at night.

jprhodes, if you are referring to the windshield, it is illegal to tint it so don't even try. But if you are referring to the front driver's side and passenger's side windows, then yes by all means tint them. It would look goofy as hell without it.

Cool

JPRhodes - let me know what you decide to do about tinting your windows, and where you do it. I'm also in MA, with a Topaz Blue 2001 325i, and I'm looking to tint my windows too.

Btw, I just moved here from California ... Boston has just about the worst road conditions I've ever seen. It's literally third world. My suspension is going to get screwed by the roads in Cambridge ...

The only thing you can do to the front windshied is like 6 inches from the top, with a fairly light tint...i dont think its worth it at all. in some states its illegal, like NC, but you can also put a windshield banner with something like ///M Power or whatever you want to put on for about 40 bucks.

I did mean the front side windows, not the front windshield. H&R coil over's go in on 2/25. Then I'm going to make a call on the tint. I've found some MA window tinters through the web, but don't have any direct references, unfortunately. Not the kind of thing you want to take your chances with.
