Window Tinting
When you guys got your windows tinted, did the back look kind of sloppy? Like the back window; does the tint not seal onto around the dots around the window? I took some pics because it's hard to explain.

Yes, I got this tinting done months ago, and have always been really bothered about how it looked. These are def. NOT waterspots. The guy at the tinting place actually said it was impossible to get the tint sealed around these. I thought it sounded like bullcrap because I've never heard of anyone complaining about this. All in all, the place I went to did a really CRAPPY job. I just notice I am already getting a bubble in one of my rear windows.

To be fair, it *is* hard to get the tint to seal around those dots. They're essentially raised dots on your window. The same thing would happen if you tinted over a grain of sand in the middle of the window. You'd get a little air bubble there. The only fix for it is a tint installer that takes his time and has pride in his work. You'll notice that those bubbles don't show up *all* the way around the window, even though the black dots are all the way around the window. The tinter should have taken more time to smooth the bubbles and perhaps warmed the window/tint a little more before applying. If it's been on there for three months, i'd say you don't have much recourse.

Like cue-ball said, it is difficult for tint to adhere to the defrost lines and dots around the edge. Any reptuable tint shop should have given you heads up on that, at least mine did. Anyway, nothing to really bitch about, heres a photo of mine.

It might be hard to do, but if you got it "professionally" done, it should be perfect.
My P!! came out perfect both times ( the first time he cut out the brake light and told me if didn't like it I could get it redone). So I tried it for a while, then got it redone. But both times came out w/ no problems!:flash: Sorry, no pics I got a digi but it ain't a camera!:smoker2: Peace! f-bomb!:smoker2: |

Well the tinting was around $300 so I don't know, what should I expect? This is not the only problem. My front right window got jammed because the tint was folded up, there is now a huge bubble in my left back window, and there was also a huge bubble on my very back window. Plus it is kind of like this on the back small windows, where in the corners there are little bubbles, like they didn't take much time w/ it.

Usually at when you get it done at the place, they will tell you if they do seamless tint. If you get seamless tint, there won't be any lines.

How hard is it to take off the tint off the back window without screwing up the defrost system.

$300 USD for a tint job!!??! That I consider expensive.
frogg, you run into the same problem that almost everyone experience. Like someone said, if you got it done professionally and the installer has pride in his work, it should come out perfect.

The one I used on the maui blue was Formula One tint. It's totally US brand and quite popular but there is only one retailer left in Ontario and he locates in Newmarket. He did a decent job for $250+taxes. The cost mainly for the tint itself. I might go back to this place just for the tint but I also found out that Thornhill Tinting does an excellent job. They are the tint intaller for the Acura dealership.
