Ferrari F550 Maranello

This is Scale Production's resin kit of the Ferrari F550 Maranello. It is a resin kit that represents the Le Mans 2003 car but in keeping with the more recent cars I have built, the kit was built as the 2002 version. Not much difference between the two, the wing support stays are possibly the most noticable (the 2003 car has two separate supports for each side of the wing, whereas the '02 car has a solid one on each side). The drivers names are also different, as are a couple of the decals. Lastly the rear underbody diffuser has less vanes in it.

The kit went together really well without too much filing and sanding to make parts fit, a fair amount of interior detail was added including wiring, air ducting, roll cage padding and also the bungee cords tied to the seat belts to pull them out of the way for fast driver changes as well as plenty of carbon fibre decal.

The colour is straightforward Tamiya TS-49 bright red with more carbon fibre decal for the side skirts, front splitter and rear bumper.
Another nice finishing touch is the prancing horse emblem on the rear, the kit supplies a silver decal, but this is a metal transfer from Tamiya's 360 Modena kit that I managed to order as a spare part from Rainbow Ten.

Hope you like!

Steve

A fabulous build. I love it.

It's a shame great cars like this, the McLaren F1, and others are only available in resin.

Re: Ferrari F550 Maranello

Great build! Nice and clean. I have this kit also. I thought it was strange that it was molded with a separate left side door and right one was molded closed. Got any shots of the left side of the car with the door closed? How did the windows fit?
