240SX (built your way) -vs- Skyline (built your way)

I wanted to see some people duke it out over a thread that couldn't be turned into an import -vs- domestic thread. So all you Skyline nut riders get to it, and 240SX lovers start posting. Oh by the way my choice - Skyline.

Well a Skyline GTR. Ultimately the superior chassis and engine.

Re: 240SX (built your way) -vs- Skyline (built your way)

in a "mod" war, the skyline will always win. it has tons of potential for mods. even though i don't like the skyline that much, i will still take it over the 240.

the skyline have a much stiffer chassis, and the altessa ets pro will allow you put the power down better, along with the computer controlled super hicas ( don't confuse this with the shitty hicas found on the 300ZZ TT) the skyline will be a much better choice, and will actually stay in one piece.

freakonaleash: why do you like nissan's flagship that much? you would rather have a much inferior and ridicously slower 300ZX TT? even a R32 GTR will lap on a average of 5 seconds faster then a Z32 TT. and the R34 GTR v-spec II will run probrably 10 seconds faster then a Z32 TT since the R34 GTR and the porsche 996 turbo are not much different in handling.

p.s. if you want a 14 page technical report on the GT-R writen by me. feel free to ask me, i can email it to you along with tons of videos that proves what i wrote in the paper. i will show you how the engine can rev to 15000K, how the AWD have 4 wheel speed, and 2 G sensors that takes samples at 100 times ( R32 GT-R ) to 1000 times ( R34 GT-R ) persecond to ensure the best tq split possible, or how the HICAS evolved from teh crude unit that gets really twitchy that is found on the 300ZX TT and on the R32 to the fully computer controlled unit with a slower ratio steering rack in the rear of a R34 that is tuned to perfection, or the 6 throttle bodies, and super responsive dual ball bearing turbos, and its stock data logging capabilities.

Re: 240SX (built your way) -vs- Skyline (built your way)

hmm...
done my way.
stiffen the chassis of the 240sx.
stuff an rb in it.
weighs less.
same power options as the skyline.
hmm...
the awd launch would own, but the rwd 240 w/rb power would own the top end, if not the 1/4 mile.

taken to the handling front, it'd be a toss up, as there are tons of people who can make big power rwd cars handle, so that's not an issue.

if it stayed sr20, i'd go for the yashio factory s15.

i like the skyline, but i like the silvia as well...

it'd be a tough call... and you can't really compare the two without getting parameters set.

it'd be tough, as the ultimate skyline and ultimate 240sx may equal out in competition, with one straight line killer, and the other better in the twisties...

what it's being built for?

first i want to ask you where i stated anything about the 300zx? and to answer your question, yes, i would much rather have a 300zx than a skyline. i know, the skyline is an awesome car, it is very well built and everything, but i don't like it's styling and so i can upgrade a 300zx and make it as fast. does it hurt to find somebody that likes a car more than a skyline?

ouch!
it does... i'm hurt!
riiiight...
if you've seen a skyline (at least the r33 my friend has) with a 300zx, you'll see very similar design cues...VERY similar...
and they're the same size

No they aren't. I've seen the cars side-by-side hundreds of times, they couldn't look any more different.

well of course i dont mind if the reason was purely cosmetic. so if its purely cosmetic then go all means go ahead. but i thought you thought the Z comes close to it in performance. then i would have to go nuts. no prob.

Re: 240SX (built your way) -vs- Skyline (built your way)

I'll take an R32 GT-R N1 with a fully built VQ35DE turbo.

The VQ35 weighs at least 200lbs less than the RB26, and is shorter which offers better weight balance. With that motor, my R32 might not be quite as light as a 240SX, but it could be close.

The VQ's greater displacement offers further potential for power, as well as for increasing displacement beyond stock. Production VQ40s will be around soon, and the aftermarket may increase that to 4.3L. The largest RB I've ever seen was just 3L.

A mechanic from AEBS also found that the aluminum block VQ is very well built, even stronger than the Supra's 2JZ iron block I6. With their sleeves, well over 1,500hp won't be a problem, considering they've gotten 1,200hp with a Honda 4 banger.

I don't need that much power, but it's good to know I wouldn't be stressing the motor.

Re: 240SX (built your way) -vs- Skyline (built your way)

yeah, i know that the skyline would kill the z in performance, but i rather buy a z32 tt and save money and spend that money on mods. but hey, that is me.

i know the skyline is awd, but is it 50/50? i thought the attessa (or however u spell it) makes it almost rear wheel drive on the straights

The GT-R's ATESSA-PRO isn't 50:50 all of the time. That's just one of the ratios it can use. The awd system's sample rate is so high that it can detect wheelspin in the rear and send power forward during a launch off the line.

Re: 240SX (built your way) -vs- Skyline (built your way)

i want good report on the skyline! it better be good! my email is [email protected] . everything but for drag racing ill take a skyline! for drag racing, ill take a 240SX. the 240sx is much lighter, and the fatsest 1/4 mile time on a nissan ive seen was low 7 by a S14. theres a dragger skyline runnin high 7's. I'd take the skyline for anything else tho.

skylines might be fast as hell but they're ugly ass looking cars and in my opinion overrated just because there are only 50 in the US.
