Re: hyundai suement

no, its a 99 Sonata GLS V6. And they did not "lie" about their horsepower underrating, they just did not translate the papers right because those koreans sent the papers all in their language!!!! It is just the guy suing them saying that they "lied" Like my father said, probably some lawer or judge who bought a XG series and found out about the "lie" and thought he could make great money off of it by suing Hyundai!

here's my thing, those people did not buy the car for the horsepower, they were obviously happy abouit the car when they bought it. and if you were happy with it then why finding out the number was different make you so upset it has no bearing on the car you've been driving...they are just looking for a quick buck (the ones that are sueing) or have real small cocks and are embarassed to tell the guys their car has less horsepower. I mean gimme a break, i have never met anyone buying a car like hyundai would offer and have HP be a determining factor.

Re: hyundai suement

The reason some only recieved 25 US dollars is because they already took an offer that Hyundai gave out at the time of the Horsepower not being correctly typed on brochures problem. They were given three options, one of which was extending the warranty by one extra year, I took that one and now I am only given a 25 dollar gift certificate to use at the dealership. To me I did not see it as losing anything, cuase the horsepower was never there to begin with. They just put in the wrong number in the brochures due to the translation from the korean ones. People were up in arms like if overnight they lost horsepower. Lets get real here, you can not lose anything that wasn't there. By Hyundai offering an extension to the warranty or roadside assistance to me was a freebie. For someone to actually go out to sue over something that was not there is to me is just a person that was sue happy.
Besides, we buy Hyundais for the value, warranty and price, I do not think we buy them for doing drag races with the vehicles involved within the suit.

Also when Hyundai offered an warranty extension because of the Horsepower being incorrect is something that most should admire, since they took it upon themslevs to so it. Nobody forced them too. Most other manufacturers would never do anything like that. Other would keep it in the dark and not give anything to the consumer.
That to me makes Hyundai unique and above and beyond the other.
Go Hyundai.

Re: hyundai suement

Its probably from folks that did not choose the three original options from Hyundai and are getting something now. Although I do not recall the recent letter specifying that high an amount. I'll have to relook at it again.
