Synthetic oils?
Whose uses full/blend synthetic oil in their cars?
What brand do your use, and how has it affected the performance/upkeep of your car? Thanks, K-

Mobil 1 all the way.....and the car runs smooth with alot less of those little noises that the Nissan motors are notorious for,,especially in the SR20DE motor.....

Mobil 1 in my SR20DE.
I used to use Castrol Syntec, but then I did some research on it. The base for syntec is a cracked petrochemical, so it's not truly a synthetic oil. The base for it is 1/3 cheaper than the base for Mobil 1, yet they charge the same price for it! So I figured, if I'm paying synthetic price, I want a true synthetic. At over 200,000 kms, my car now burns a little oil, and it seems to burn less with Mobil 1. However, the protection properties are good. When I changed out my cams, there was less wear on the cam lobes at 180,000 kms than on a friend's 1998 SE-R with 40,000 kms. Either oil is fine. Both are better than non-synthetic. |
