Question

Anyone know yet what's going to happen to the G20 after the 2002 model year? I've heard many different rumors, but nothing confirmed. I hope they put the SR20VE in and leave the rest of the car alone.

I'd love to see a variant of the new Primera with the Japanese-market 2.5 liter 4. Hopefully the Infiniti variant will be done like the Ford Focus was done - that is, not too "Americanized." Too often "world cars" lose their appeal when they're overly massaged for the US market. Remember what a bust the Ford Contour was? Can you say "fleet car?" And yet the Mondeo was hailed all over Europe as a triumph...

hehe.. while i wish that was true i highly doubt it...

nissan just redesigned the primera for the japanese market and intruduced the p12... there's no signs of rwd or a new engine...

i doubt nissan would even think twice to concider these changes for the north american market only. if anything japan would get them... and we'd be shafted as usual and not get the power we all crave

honestly... the G20 will probably not last much longer in the Infiniti line...

i really dont see the P12 coming to the US as its not the typical attractive car that the US buyers want.

the Nissan XVL will probably be added to the Infiniti line and the G20 dropped.

Infiniti and various car magazines has hinted up and down that the G20 will go, and the XVL concept will come in as the introductory Infiniti car... probably with a name like X30?

I read the same thing about G30, G34, or G35. Utilizing the beefy suspension a little more efficiently.

acutally a woman who i work with (sits right next to me) just bought an I30t over the holiday weekend, and she told me... "oh the G20's are nice cars too, but a little too small for me and my husband. the salesman told us though that they're not gonna have the G20 for 2003 though, they are going to have a 2 door car that is a different name"

just a little update....

i talked to a salesman from my infiniti dealer and he told me that they will indead drop the G20 either for the 2003/2003.5/2004 model range. he said most likely the car will be the XVL concept since they want to compete more with BMW. he said the car will most definately be a 3.0 engine... oh and you're wondering why they'd have an X30(?) and an I30? ...well no need to worry, to make room for the change infiniti just introduced the 2002 I35

guess this is THE END for North American Primeras...

It will be a sad day when this does happen to the G20 as you only have to see by the amount of people that are here on this forum how well they are liked.
I guess it may have to come down to you guys importing your own car to the States if you want one???. Dont know how you would go about it.
What are your laws for importing (RH Drive etc) to USA ???
