Brakes in Preludes Common Problem???

My girlfriend has a 95 Prelude, bone stock, with about 100,000 miles that runs great but...
today she was driving it and almost simultaneously the check engine light and the ABS light came on!

i have heard brake systems in these cars can be a problem, any ideas as to what this could be?

PS, im a mustang driver and im losing points with her for not knowing more about her honda, any help is appreciated! thanks a lot

your brakes will work fine, but the ABS won't. if the light is on, it is disabled for safety incase it malfunctions.

Well first I'd check to see why that CEL is on: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...&highlight=cel

My ABS has malfunctioned for quite awhile now; the light has been on. I figure something about the ABS unit is bad, but haven't had the time or inclination to fix it yet. I never use ABS anyways, but I don't want to throw it out.

Try just resetting her ECU. One of the easiest ways to do this is to disconnect the battery for a half an hour or so.

Some people have also had speed sensor problems near the transmission, where a bracket was lose.

Pulling the 7.5A clock/ radio fuse for a few minutes should do the same job!

I was going to mention that, but didn't since I didn't know what fuse it was. I think you only have to pull it for about 30 seconds.

The "CLOCK" fuse in the box under the hood... pull it for a couple of minutes while you check the oil... put it back in and see what happens...
