240SX common problems and their solutions?

I saw in one thread "why we love the 240SX" a list of common problems with the 240.

I haev a 93 240SX SE, hatchback with power locks, power windows, manual sunroof, and the five-speed transmission, rear windshield wiper...(I think that's all the options)

The car has 147,000 miles and APPEARS to have been babied- 147,000 EASY miles. unfortunately, looks (and feels) can be deceiving. what kind of common 240 problems can I expect, what are the symptoms (so I can recognize them) and what are the suggested fixes? the replies to this thread will be copied and pasted into my own little word document, prospectively entitled "Worst Case Scenario- 240SX"

(in an other note- I have a word document called "Worst Case Scenario- Stealth," and it's about 70K...yes, a 70K word document)

Apologies if this is gone over in the six page FAQ- I skimmed through it but didn't check it in detail.

Re: Re: 240SX common problems and their solutions?

no prob, here we go

ka24(d)e, thin body parts that dent so easily, faded windshield wiper switch, cigarette lighter that pops out, power windows that stop working, odometer that gets stuck, leaky bushings, uneven camber, rear defroster that doesnt work, clunky steering, overheating blown speakers, faded seatbelts, faded temperature control, automatic seatbelts, great interior fabric schemes, shitty brakes, great way of changing headlight bulbs, trunk fabric walls that break off, dropping a strut bar nut in the rear, brake lights burn out, leaky injectors, leaky windows, strange creaking noises, awesome moonroo,f brittle interior cloth, leaky injectors, spot on the armrest that rubs away, power antenna not working, nasty shift boot that falls, apart people capacity: 2 people and a midget with no legs, wonderful black tape that wraps around the body, no cup holders, bad timing chain guides, driver's side rear lean, siezed transmission drain/filler plugs

if you have it long enough, everything above WILL happen

yea it's a big list of minor problems, but it's worth it . I have a 1995 240sx, seems they fixed up half of those probs but still a lot lingering around

You would not believe how many of those things are true.
My car has the cig liter that pops-out, and i had to replace the timing guides and tensinors. Lots of other things that he listed too.

BUt, like you said it is worth it. Most of that stuff can be replaced by one healthy trip down to AutoZone.

I've already noticed these...I just superglued the lighter back in...
Anyway...I'm glad these are all minor problems...easy to fix. That's definately a relief. Are there any common major problems I can expect...like...the car coming to life and killing me? or growing a mind of it's own and evolving super-advanced-death-beam weaponry, cause, ya know, that'd be REALLY frickin' cool!
